All welcome ..but..very weather dependant ..(although the weather app on my phone is claiming it to be mainly sunny.) ..I also have the small matter of a strain to my groinage area to take into account but it is improving daily ( tried turning too quickly into the next aisle with a full shopping trolley in Tesco on Tuesday..ffs!)..so at the moment this is going ahead with a late call on Friday evening before being rubber stamped .
Three of us travelling over from the North East...
The ride starts at grid ref NY318255..which is the car park on the way out of the village towards Blencathra Centre ..which is where we head to on tarmac before the off road begins .
On to Skiddaw House..and then to Whitewater Dash waterfall before re-tracing back to Skiddaw House ..the return route going along Lonscale Fell..Latrigg car park and the permissible route back via the track to Brundhome / Wescoe and on to the finish ( due to the bridge closures* still in place over the River Derwent on the old railway bed/ track from Keswick ).
* I recently read that a £5.6m grant was in place to restore the track ..good news .
This is not a huge ride ..but good enough for a winters day at a relaxed pace.

A quick pint and a basket of chips in The Horse & Farrier always follow this ride ..its the law! 😀

Btw, I'm not sure the track on the old railway line is actually completely fixed yet.
Mr Sparkle ..you are right sir ..April '18 is the date I saw but it's the track above Brundhome Woods that we will be using ..which I'm sure is permissive at the moment ( well we used it the last time anyway !) ..

If it's nice, an out and back to the top of skiddaw at the end would be worth it for the view/summit experience.

there may well be some snow and with temps staying below Zero the snow will hang around for ages, currently showing sunshine for Skiddaw for Saturday so your ride has the potential to be stunning>.this weekend's pics thread is lining up to be a cracker.

Great day with the lads today ..my thanks first of all to Gaz, Dave & Paul for making the effort to get there ..well worth it though on a proper winter ride ..winter skies with plenty of snow & solid ice to contend with ( giving more than a few squeaky bum moments!).
No one came to grief though ..how I don't know...and the pint in the pub afterwards had tales of close escapes for each of us .

Awesome, cracking wee route that Neil.
Yeah ..not a long ride today by any means ( roughly 11miles ) ..but the conditions made it quite tough ..
Probably my favourite short ride in the lakes at any time of the year 🙂
