YES you can if its an Easton Bar & stem – they make a shim to suit, works a treat!

That's a big gap to be taking up with a shim. Especially a rubber one!

Yes, but for pity's sake use a proper shim instead of four thicknesses of inner tube to twang around inside. Easton do them, and so do others.

You can with a proper shim, I had one made up for me that works a treat.

Jones H bars come with a shim for 25.4 to 31.8 – not had a problem, never heard of anyone having a problem. So, yes, you can do it.

A proper shim is fine. There's plenty available, even Thomson make one. A bit of inner tube is certain death…

Yes it can be done. I used an Easton shim in a Thomson stem to hold Race Face bars! Simple.

Yes, but what about a 31.8 bar in a 25.4 stem? I can just sand a bit off the outside off the bar and a bit off the inside of the stem can't I?
