I have no idea what you just said Wally... โ
if the stop nut is in place it can't move forward. your chain tension too slack or is the chain line out?
Hmm. Why is your locknut there? It doesn't make any odds to it's effectiveness but it must be bloody akward tightening it up. It should be on the exposed end of the bolt. As to the slippage it might be worth you taking a bit of the paint off the slots on the frame and putting some washers like this (on the right):

between the sliding dropout and the frame. I believe that they did start using something like these on later models.
Hope this makes sense!

MrSparkle, nuts are off and they were making life difficult to judge when the bolt was actually hitting the dropouts. Used this threadlock I had knocking around for the first time. Hope it can be broken like the blue locktite stuff. If it still slips it must be the plates and frame interface being too smooth, so yes I will try a washer. Might even be the Shimano QR moving, but I doubt this.
Is it the disc side moving backwards under braking?
Just sunk in what you mean.
Might be. I think I have done what I can, but would be grateful for any stories of "roughing up" interface between dropouts and frame.
I always found that QR wheels moved in the dropouts on my Konas with sliders. Left me on the ground once when I gave it some stick pulling off from traffic lights...
It looks like yours are angled forward too, rather than being vertical (so you can get the wheel out with the chain still on). So are you sure it's not the axle moving? Shouldn't be a problem with bolt-up wheels.
it's nice to know single speeds are so trouble and maintenance free. You're letting the side down and the gearie boys will mock you ๐
What clamps tighter than a shimano QR? DT swiss?
If I put a Hope2 in what adaptor should I use to allen key bolt up?
What clamps tighter than a shimano QR?
Track nuts ๐
Don't Pro2's hollow QR axles have threads on the inside ready for bolts? A buddy uses bolts on his (M7?), but admittedly he's got the trials version.
Have had the similar problem, took the sliding drop's and put them all the way towards the seattube (do you get me??) and then the problem was solved. Think the frame gives the sliding drops a bit more support that way.
Try what Tazzy said!
Track nuts
Had the driveside one of those move on me today (on my Alfined Roadrat) which very nearly had off as I was out of the saddle and cranking hard up a hill at the time. Probably my own fault though as it's the first bike I've ever had them on and I doubt I did them up tight enough.
You don't need them very tight in the trackends on your 'rat if you use a tugnut, although I don't know for sure if you can with an Alfine...
Despite missing my Kona, I'm pleased to be free from sliding droputs.
I fixed all slipping on my Voodoo Bokor by removing the paint under the sliding dropout. Voodoo paint seems soft and flows under pressure.
Oh, and keep your nuts tight ๐
