Oh blimey, that's rubbish. ๐Ÿ™ Not far from there so will keep eyes peeled, sounds like a distinctive colour. Really hope you get some good news soon.

Thanks, police were helpfull and there is an initiative currently in force on cycling theft and it's fairly distinctive so I'm hopeful.

Glad the Police have been helpful. Is there a problem with bike theft in the area then? Any chance of posting a pic?

the pc said the main issues are thefts from the local railway stations, but that these thefts are then fed into people who flog em on.

oooh, that's fairly close to me though unless they're daft enough to ride it to the General I'm not likely to see it

Any idea whether they were after the bike (seems bloody unlucky if it's not normally in there) or just general thievery

think it was a horrible coincidence, i never leave it in there but got back from helping a mate move house absolutely poopered and needing to eat so i was lazy!

they took the stereo and gps too along with my garmin, oakleys and smashed my helmet in the attempt.

looking like the most expensive mistake i've ever made.

Cheers, chat with insurance company today- not sounding good.

For everyone's note I am insured with AXA - thought I had 2.5k cover, turns out they have imposed a 1k limit in the policy and in their words I'm 'underinsured' therefore it's not valid.

Gutted x2 now

Check your policy's people

@Lummox - push back hard on the under-insured thing - do not accept it, its a standard BS tactic to deny claims. Tell them you thought it was insured for 2.5k which is the correct figure.

"you thought" won't override any T's and C's though will it.

@allthepies - there is quite a lot of wiggle room, especially if there was a change in T&C's where you can argue the change was material but not sufficiently prominent. It really is a standard claims department tactic to claim under-insured, it's their job not to pay you or at least reduce payouts if at all possible. Even if they loose by denying and stalling the claim for 6-12 months they enhance their profits/reduce their losses.

Sorta happier development, have been referred to wheelies to cost up replacement, not sure if this means I will get a replacement but it's certainly more encouraging than earlier.

If I'm absolutely honest I just want my old bike back- it was ace ๐Ÿ™
