Cunning stunt.

Right. I can't stand the feeble pillock, but on the strength of this, I'll be voting for Corbyn...

Haven't signed it yet, but I'm very tempted. This is the sort of stupidity that should be rubbed in May's face to make her realise the mistakes she is making.

It's the way the tide is turning:

I'd say the whole thing is pretty worrying, first we legitimise assaulting anyone foreign looking and now we're legitimising assaulting anyone who doesn't like the fact we've become / are becoming a very nasty place....

This is the sort of stupidity that should be rubbed in May's face to make her realise the mistakes she is making.

She knows full well and doesn't care. This mess has made her PM, she couldn't give a shit about anyone else.

Yup. Apparently the only way to protect democracy is to string up anyone who has different views, or indeed anyone who thinks government policies ought to be debated in parliament.

It's all a bit:

My neighbour has been expressing his disgust at the glorious Brexit vote. Is there a telephone number that I, as a good citizen, can ring to do my duty and make a report?

I think you can report it in person at any of the new re-education centres, online at uk.gov or by calling 101, unless they're expressing their views publically when you need to call 999 for an armed response vehicle.

He's local to me. I'm just about resisting my impulse to go round to his office and to use my democratic right to free speech and opinion and tell him that in my opinion he's a ****.

Brexiteer or a Remoaner; democracy allows voices the right to continue to present their opinions. Even the opinions we find abhorrent (yes, you UKIP / EDL / ISIS). Believing this would be a far worse thing to do than putting your X in the Leave box on Jun 23rd.

In fairness, i do see that the Leader of the council has now suspended him.

Holliday has since been suspended by the leader of Guildford Borough Council, fellow Conservative Paul Spooner.

I'm not going to post it but his phone number is VERY easy to find, given he works for a large firm of estate agents.

From the Our People section of his firm's website, I did allow a wry smile at this:

Christian's expertise -
Planning

I suspect not, as he hasn't planned out how that idea was going to go down.

A conservative councillor and estate agent. I'm stunned at how out of character this seems. ๐Ÿ™‚

Not sure I understand why he's been suspended though. He's only put a petition on the gov.uk website calling for the introduction of a law. A pretty silly law, granted, but that's democracy, isn't it? His views on it may be a bit shaky, but we shouldn't sink to his level...

Not met many then, some of the most uneducated folk you'll ever meet (there used to be a 'lovely' racist Labour councillor in the S.E.). And this guy is clearly a grade one bellend and should be suspended by his party.

For that they only get a couple of MPs discussing it over a pint or even an interview on breakfast TV. They'll need another 90,000 on top of that for the full "Across the Despatch Box Experience".

Also retweeted by the Honourable Muppet.

It's important that all political parties respect the Referendum result & work together to make it a success #RespectTheResult @ChukaUmunna

I kind of think the house should discuss this sort of thing.

Of course, he seems to be suggesting the same people who are EU sympathising traitors should vote in a law to make EU sympathising a crime. Discuss.

It is becoming clear that many politicians and others are unwilling to accept the democratic decision of the British people to leave the EU.

We lost the vote. Oh well don't blame me if it goes pear-shaped but hope it works out (quickly too).

I am confused.
It has been a long standing tradition on STW to slag off those whose opinion one doesn't like. How is this different?
If you don't like what someone has said fair enough but the to react at the same level is somewhat less than mature. It works both ways. If the haters here are allowed to rant then so is he, for better or worse.

"idiocy of the Nationalist hordes"
A prime example. If you can say that then who ever the OP is on about, would some one like to save my time by explaining, can do the same. For what its worth both points of view are rather narrow and nasty.

Not all leave enthusiasts are like that, obviously, but there are a large number of nationalist types out there, who simply believe that the EU are the route of all ills and a threat to them in every way. Such people might see the treason petition as reasonable.

Rational leave enthusiasts believe that there are better business and legal practices available outside of the Eu.
-These people are unlikely to support the treason idea.

I would like to remain in the EU, but wouldn't suggest rounding up leave enthusiasts and imprisoning them if the best happens and we stay in the EU.

I've not seen anything to suggest it was intended as satire.

But if it was then it might be reasonable to ask if our elected officials should really be using democratic devices to petition the government just for Epic Bantz on Twitter.

Ah democratic...
as in countries that have "democratic" in their title

You're more than entitled to vote, so long as it is for Kim Jong-un or Mugabe.

That is where the democratic (not yet republic) of britain is headed.

4000 signatures now.

The news story seems to have died a death so it's no longer getting the oxygen of publicity and the signature rate is definitely slowing. Could still hit 10,000 though which would be a tad embarrassing for the government.

Probably depends how many papers picked it up today.

an honestly, I'm sure it's being written in to some "anti-terror" legislation as we speak. The act of "imagining" a subversive act, which would hinder the Government in carrying out their work....

Hanged, drawn and quartered at least. Preferably drawn, hanged and quartered.

I'm more worried that the OP's subject is missing the words "to be". It ought to read:

Some people on here need to be hung drawn and quartered...

It's a peculiar Scottish-ism, presumably brought upon us by [s]William Wallace[/s] Mel Gibson or some other treacherous type.
