It struck me as a clumsy attempt at satire.

Not all leave enthusiasts are like that,
Ohhh Yes You Are.
Hanged, drawn and quartered at least. Preferably drawn, hanged and quartered.
It struck me as a clumsy attempt at satire.
I've not seen anything to suggest it was intended as satire.
But if it was then it might be reasonable to ask if our elected officials should really be using democratic devices to petition the government just for Epic Bantz on Twitter.
Because no one here has suggested life imprisonment for people that disagree with them??
give it time fella....

I hope that you've not mistaken me for a leave enthusiast! ๐ฏ
Ah democratic...
as in countries that have "democratic" in their title
You're more than entitled to vote, so long as it is for Kim Jong-un or Mugabe.
That is where the democratic (not yet republic) of britain is headed.
Well if Harry the Spider or Hadge's (have I remembered the other 'bug' shepherd's forum name right?) pet collection escapes it's going to be just like living in Starship Troopers Bugrexit based on the current headlines. ๐

Headed? That's just first past the post
4000 signatures now.
The news story seems to have died a death so it's no longer getting the oxygen of publicity and the signature rate is definitely slowing. Could still hit 10,000 though which would be a tad embarrassing for the government.
Probably depends how many papers picked it up today.
Just noticed the wording of his petition includes making it a treasonous act to imagine the UK becoming a member of the European Union ๐ฏ
Looks like I am guilty of thoughtcrime ๐ฅ
an honestly, I'm sure it's being written in to some "anti-terror" legislation as we speak. The act of "imagining" a subversive act, which would hinder the Government in carrying out their work....
yes, you UKIP / EDL / ISIS
English Disco Lovers? We like a dance but nothing hardcore.

I'm more worried that the OP's subject is missing the words "to be". It ought to read:
Some people on here need to be hung drawn and quartered...
It's a peculiar Scottish-ism, presumably brought upon us by [s]William Wallace[/s] Mel Gibson or some other treacherous type.
I hope that you've not mistaken me for a leave enthusiast!
We don't make mistakes.
String him up!

We've got that covered too. Throw him in the pond and see if he sinks!

As I said it is hanged not hung. The correct phrase is Drawn, hanged and quartered.
How odd, that potentially embarrassing petition seems to have mysteriously disappeared.
That's not very democratic!
As I said it is hanged not hung. The correct phrase is Drawn, hanged and quartered
Wasn't aimed at you - was nitpicking at the OP's Scottish omission of "to be"..!
The correct phrase is Drawn, hanged and quartered.
