So I used to have a P7 that was replaced by a 456 carbon, now I’m consider going back to steel, I can transfer all the bits over from the 456 so which frame would you go for? I’m leaning toward the slackline at the moment, just wondering what people’s opinions are on this or if there’s any other suggestions,

As another P7 fanboy, I’d go for the slackline. They just look so right! You just know they’re going to be a right old laugh to ride too

853 slackline is straight steerer only – so Soul probably wins, purely on “being able to buy a fork for it” grounds, plus takea a proper-sized dropper post – the Slackline’s TT is about the same length but lower, which I like, but not enough to outweigh the former.

631 Slackline is cheaper than either though, and takes tapers – dropper post co mpatible too, I think – there may be subtleties in the ride quality – same argument to be made for the BFe though

Slackline 631 is on a par weight wise with a bfe and similar price.

I prefer the slacklines lines i.e where the seat stays join the top tube…but the Soul is about 1lb lighter, and more expensive.

Depends on what fork your planning to run. My slackline ti was much better running 140 fork than the MK3 Soul I had.

If you can live with the weight I’d go slackline if your planning to run a longer fork.

I would also say Slackline for longer forks (130mm+), Soul for shorter.

The forks I’ve got are 140 mm tapered, so I’m guessing it’s got to be the slackline 631 then, just got to persuade the Mrs that I should get an early Christmas present as I’ve been good this year!

I went from a 456 Carbon to a Soul and with 120mm forks it rides very well (mk2, medium and i’m 5’11”)

Slightly different ride to the C456 with the same (Revs) forks but at 140mm on the C456 I can’t really say I prefer one over the other.

Soul is good for most things and feels ‘nice’ all round where as the C456 urged speed in the downs and tricky bits but was a bit odd going up – even with the forks wound in.

For an all round ride I’d say the Soul is very good, but not ridden a Slackline.

I’ve got a Soul and a Slackline. They’re both awesome in different ways.

The Soul has a more XC feel to it. It’s lighter, feels more nimble and more comfortable on normal rides. I’d say it’s also slightly better finished and just feels ‘nice’. It’s great.

The Slackline is heavier and a lot stiffer. It holds lines better on fast corners, jumps better and feels better downhill. It’s also great.

I prefer the Soul for XC rides, but the Slackline for downhilly stuff. That said, I’ve ridden DH, raced enduro and done 24-solos on both and it’s been fine. You’ll not go wrong with either.

I’m definitely swaying toward the slackline 631, just can’t decide which colour? 🙄

Just ordered a slackline 631 frame in electric blue, can’t wait to get my hands on it!
