It looks like a good idea as no lock is ever able to resist attack. And you get to fight back!

That is a great idea! The best you can hope for from a lock, is the thief looking at it and moving onto an easier bike. Which I imagine would happen here if it works as promised!
My first thought was that it was a lock that gave the (attempting) thief a ten-bag if he was nearly done sawing through it so he would mellow the hell out and see the error of his (or her) ways after an hour playing in a puddle. Or something.
Anyway, further proof that designers just need to look to nature for inspiration. Good idea!
However as the article points out, they can always come back later. Or they carry a respirator in their toolkit.

That's why it would be better to just kill them dead at point of interest
