Older Deore 525. Just went for a spin and there is wobble on the freehub, feels awful and notchy but still spinning nicely and engaging (as well as they do)ok. Cassette lockring is tight, movement not coming from there. Is there anything can be done by stripping/lubing/tighening the freehub or do I just buy a new one and screw it on. (CRC new ones are £20.99, whole hub is £23.99 to get me spare skewer, axle and cones so that’s what I’d get)

Mine felt it was sticking the other day and I couldn’t afford/didn’t have time to get a new one before the ride so I strpped it apart.

    Cassette off
    Axle out
10mm hex key in the driveside, you’ll see…
Take it off, drop it in some white spirit and work it round, dry it off, lube with whatever you can get in there. I managed to get some chainlube in.
    Back on
Clean and rebuild the hub with lots of nice clean grease

It made it a bit better but not perfect.
