ps. I also cried once at an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel Air so I may be slightly over-sensitive.

    This scene per chance?

When I saw that I think somebody must have been cutting onions nearby or something.

Hehe. Batteries Not Included – the bit at the end when the baby robo-alien is stamping down mosaic tiles into the remains of the building, trying to spruce the place up a bit.

Phil – she’s got a bit of a Betty Page thing going on there. Well, probably what Betty Page would look like now. Eek!

While I didn’t quite break into tears, Mr Holland’s Opus got me all emotional.

I’m hard as nails, but the bit in Once Were Warriors when Grace hangs herself from the tree makes me cry for days. I’m crying now, in fact.

And the end of Breaking the Waves.

The ‘off-the-building’ scene in the original King Kong, when I was about 4, so my folks say.

Holly Hunter playing ‘The Heart asks Pleasure First’ on the beach, in ‘The Piano’.

Different kind of crying, but Dr. Evil & son Scott arguing in ‘Austin Powers 2’ (the ‘ziiip itt!’ scene) embarrased my other half when we saw that at the pictures, oh yes.

Dead Poet’s Society when the guy gets up on the desk and starts shouting that line what is it again?

    (wanders off to Google…)

    Ahh yes
    ‘Ohh captain, my captain’

And +1 for the ending in Saving Private Ryan – not quite in tears but very emotional.

Yeah, that Dead Poet’s bit gets me, Silent Running, too. Lots of films tbh, the older I get! 😳
It’s amazing how much a good musical score helps up the tear quota, too!

Most of the last hour or so of The Return Of The King still gives me a lump in my throat and when I first saw The Fellowship Of The Ring, I was full-up at the start where Frodo meets Gandalf and they ride into Hobbition. Just seeing these characters I’ve loved so much from childhood done justice on screen made me quite emotional. – I say done justice… there are many things about Peter Jackson’s treatment of LOTR that make me want to take him outside and give him a damn good shoeing! 😡

If TV is allowed, and judging by the sublime Fresh Prince clip above it very much is, I’m going with

Dawn’s secret santa present from Tim.
Holmes and Watson on Mitchell and Webb.
Michael Scott answering the door to trick or treaters.
    Lem and the grenade.
    The Vendrell family meeting.

Kramer V Kramer & Fatal attraction both have scenes that no matter how hard I try tears won’t stay in if I watch.. 😥

Babe – happy cry when the Fly tells the puppies that Babe can stay with them and they all run up to him saying ‘Yeah’, it is similar to Toy Story 3 for me.

Tears of laughter – The Inbetweeners when Jay is have a moment in the old peoples home and Seinfeld when Mel Torme is singing to Kramer

I have never cried over a film.
I am actually surprised how many of you have cried over childrens films. The incenerator scene scared my kids and i thought it was more scary than emotional tbh.
EDIT?:My mistake i cried at the end of Cinema Paradiso.

crying at films = sensitive and thoughtful = more ladies = more boobs

hence real men cry at films (and that fresh prince clip)

“The Veteran’s words at the end of Band of Brothers.” Very powerful moment. Especially this:

I cherish the memories of a question my grandson asked me the other day. He said “Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?” Grandpa said “No. But I served in a company of heroes”.

I think the only film that’s made me cry though is The Notebook. As a few others have mentioned!

It’s towards the end of “Elf” for me, when everyone joins in with the girl singing carols and there is enough Christmas Spirit for Santa’s sleigh to fly out of the park….

    Everytime…

I watched Million Dollar Baby on the flight home. Emotionally broke me. I’m welling up thinking about it.

+1 again for Saving Private Ryan

Actually in SPR, when the medic gets it and is asking for his mum, after they’ve attacked the machine gun mount. Especially after he tells everyone the story the night before in the church how he’d pretend to be asleep when his mum would come home from work and want to talk. Choked.

    Stupid films 🙂

Up or course, & IIRC Toy Story 3, but the one that really comes to mind is “we were soldiers”, final scene when he returns home.

    – YES! amazing scene – even watching it on silent at the back of a conference is making me a bit sad.

Another reason to love STW! 😀

The LOTR signal-fire scene also gets me, but so does a lot of My Neighbour Totoro, and the end of the Iron Giant. And most Pixar films. Even the conclusion of the race near the end of Cars.

But, Philconsequence, it has not helped my romantic life one bit in spite of what you describe as the fringe benefits of being soft. 🙁

    As others have already mentioned:

Million Dollar Baby (ouch, that’s harsh!)
Bridge to Terabithia (I had no preconceptions and it caught me out)
Dead Poet’s Society (have not seen this in ages – must look it up again)

Have you seen Grand Torino? (another Clint Eastwood movie)

“Long Kiss Goodnight” when Samantha is losing the fight and tells her 8 year old daughter to run, but instead she comes back and repeats her “Get back up and fight” speech from earlier in the movie.

Not sure why, but I’m practically weeping just typing that… 😯
