    well if you agree that the point of the song is that society dehumanises and that it does this from the top down, then i guess that it is as poignant today as it was in 1977.

    the only slight incongruity is that no future has become no present

    We woz only in it for the money.

    Its a shame their are no new voices in music, making statements about life and politics in their music.

    I am never sure if its the “industry” that now is effectively scared to develop such talent, or if its just not in youth to speak out anymore.

    Predictable and of no consequence whatsoever. A bit like dear old Johnny himself nowadays.

    I long for the days when seeing him on TV was a rare treat and you watched with a sense of dread/hope that any minute the interviewer was going to say the wrong thing and all hell would break loose.
