   I want something to supplement / replace my time served Trangia (almost 20 years old but still going strong).

   If it replaces the Trangia then it needs two burners. Grill is a bonus but not essential.

   Me and a few mates each have one of those £10 jobbies we use when we go night fishing and such, work fine, gas is cheap and lasts plenty time. 1 can will do 3 of us with cups of tea and bacon/sausages/soup/ etc for a full night. Think Asda are selling them at the moment.

   Used the camping gaz camping chef for years. Rice on one burner, curry on the other, and a nan bread under the grill - sorted!

   Ben - what gas do you use? I've just seen a review of the Camping Gaz stove on Amazon and somebody reckons a calor bottle, regulator and hose cost £80. Ouch.

   I've got a Sunncamp cooker like this:

   and it's fab. But, as you mention you need to add probably £40-£50 for a bottle & regulator.

   Worth it in my opinion as you can easily do eggs, bacon, sausage, toast etc.....mmmmmmmmm. There's not a lot better waking up on a sunny morning and cooking up a nice fry up.

   Use the camping gaz camping chef and it works fine. Regulator comes with the stove - well it did when I got it. You have to spend quite a lot to get your first bottle of gas, but then you just swap it for a full one for something like £15. I've been told you can usually find these Camping Gaz bottles at the local dump and then just go for the swap. If you've got the space you can use a big calor gas bottle which is cheaper in the long run but you'll need a different regulator (I think)

   Cheers (again).

   Running two Trangias for 3 breakfasts and numerous brews (most recent camping trip) used at least £5 of meths and two eco-gel burner thingies.

   Go-outdoors reckon the big CG 907 cylinder (2.75kg) is £28 empty, then £18 to fill.

   f you don't intend camping abroad , go for calor rather than campingaz.
   A 907 holds 2.7kg gas and costs about £18- £20 to refill. A calor gas 4.5kg costs about £15 to refill.
   So calor gives you almost twice as much gas for your money.
