ive got a set of cheapo ice toolz ones, and ive lost 2 of them, so time to get some new ones, ideally with the ball end too if possible!

Yeah, they'd get my money- I paid about £15 for a similiar Bahco set a while back, they're ace.

I've also got a set of these:

http://www.alltoolsdirect.co.uk/draper-expert-8-piece-t-handled-hexagon--ball-end-hexagon-key-set-59257-3087-p.asp

Draper Expert are all over the place quality wise but this is a good set, I've had them for years and they've been bang on. The biggest advantage of t-handles in a rack is that you don't lose them quite so fast, like I inevitably do with all little 5mm allen keys.

Ahhh I was gunna link to that PSA, but alternatively, the Halford Professional range ones are fine too, lifetime warranty on them too & no need for P&P if you have a shop locally. Had a set mine for a couple of years and no signs of being able to damage them (unlike many cheap sets I've had)

Best for workshop use are Wera stainless, a little over your budget but worth it.

whilst I'm sure the Bacho ones are nice I have had a shot of some Wera hex plus allen keys and they are superb, That is where my money would be going.

These ones

The ones that show up in Lidl every so often for 4.99 are really rather good.

I got the Aldi 11 piece Workzone set for £5 - very good, and with an handle which attaches for a bot of extra grip. They don't seem to be doing them at the moment.

ive had both the lidl set and the aldi sets before i decided to invest in decent tools

if you really hate your bolts then fire on......

they wear out very quickly-which leads to them becoming sloppy fit in the bolt heads - poor quality soft steel - thats also brittle some how. bad heat treatment - snapped the 8mm removing some pedals.

and the less said about the ball end the better - doesnt really work at any angle - maybe 5degrees but i wouldnt risk it beyond straight tbh - the contact area was horrible.

I vote for the wera hex plus also - hex plus is a much nicer fit than standard hex the hex heads.

But the bahco are also good quality steel and i wouldnt walk past them to get the weras.

I've been using a set of Bondhus for a few years, seem to be holding up well, even the teeny weeny ones work well. Bondhus

+1 for Wera. I bought a set at Goodwood last weekend and despite limited use since then, there's a night and day difference from the Aldi ones they replace.

Stick with the Bahco/Wiha/Wera/Bodhus/etc..

I still have a scar on my hand caused by a cheap hex key unwrapping like a banana whilst I was using it to get a pulley off an alternator a few years back.

Cheap tools are so often a false economy, especially in this case where quality stuff is such good value. (and not that expensive)

Lidl/Aldi regularly do a really nice T bar set with full allen (10 > 2) and torx. £15 ish. Worth looking out for.
