Going camping soon and want to charge iphone with one of those charger stick things, now thinking might take gopro and iPad too, looking at the bigger dual / multi chargers. Can anyone recommend a good one. Many thanks.

This has come up recently matty, might be worth a search. FWIW I've a EC Technology 2nd Gen Deluxe brick I'm happy with, claimed 22500mAh(lol), 3 outputs, 2 of them 2W, the other 1W. Paid about £20 for it a few months ago.

Very happy with an Anker Astro (13000mah) with dual outputs (1a and 2a), bought it specifically for camping, it keeps my ipad topped up or an iphone 5 charged about three or four times. Can fit it in a roomy pocket and it has a brightish LED torch that lasts a claimed 600hrs on a full charge! Handy to charge a compact camera also.

If I was to buy one again today I'd probably opt for the Astro E6 20800mAh with three ports, under 30 quid atm. But the Bargainous IMHO*

*Edit - ^ Strike that I'd probably go with the 16000 mAh Astro E5 as it also has the torch and should be sufficient. I can get too attached to gadgets when camping which robs self and others of quality camping time 😉

i too am interested in this, bought a couple of little usb fans for 'holiday abroad' duties, as air-con doesnt seem to agree with the missus.

i see in the amazon ad, it says 'frequently bought together' with a power supply for this at an extra £5.84. am i to understand that this doesnt come with any way of recharging it to charge phones etc then?
would i need to buy a separate 'mains charger for anker' power supply or will a normal phone/kindle charger charge it up fine?

thanks

it charges via USB, I've charged it exclusively via third party charge adapters (ie my iPhone adapter, or cigarette lighter USB adapter)

thanks. can i just delve a bit further please? ok, it charges other things by its usb ports, but looking at a pic of it, it seems to have a round power supply slot. does this mean id need something else to power it up in the first place, such as a mains adaptor with a round pin on the end?

also, before i click 'buy', one more question please, its a bit specific 🙂
ive got an HP 11" chromebook. ive no idea what the battery in that will be. if i only need this anker for plugging in a usb mini-fan abroad, would my chromebook battery be able to run it?
so, chromebook closed by side of bed, plug in mini-fan to chromebook usb slot, will it work? and if so would it last longer than an anker?

thanks

I have the Astro E4 mk1 so can't speak for the Mk2 - just had a look and it only takes a charge by a USB port. The other USB outs are obv for charging devices from it. The only 'round' thing on it is the torch LED. As I say, this is the Mk1 but assume the Mk2 also charges itself via USB, whether or not it has an alternate option would be maybe irrelevant as long as you can charge it via USB?

Would an HP Chromebook last longer than the Astro E4? I doubt it - check out the capacity of yr Chromebook battery, determine whether it can charge when not powered up (as that would further decrease your HPs battery if in sleep mode) against the 13000mAh of the E4. Simple, I think? Don't quote me though, I'm hardly an electronics buff, in fact electricity is 'magic stuff in the air' AFAIK 😉

I have an Anker unit and it's excellent.

Charges via micro USB and gives out power from normal USB A Sockets.

Got the Astro E4 yesterday. Build quality is excellent, it arrived 75% charged, tested it out on a few devices and all good. Charged it to full capacity - it took 3hrs from a normal socket. Now to see how many charges I can get from it!
