It's time to buy a new lid so would like your recommendations. I have a smallish head and don't fancy the mushroom look, so what would you recommend?
Whatever fits..
Oh dear
Go to LBS and try some on.
Giro hurt like hell after an hour, met comfy all day.
Different head different fit

I think Kask and Catlike are none muchroomy from what Ive seen. I have a Lazer O2 which is also not very mushroomy, its dead comfy aswell. Giro's are fairly well known for making you look like a mushroom, they sit quite high on your head.
Fit is all
Preferably one with multiple shell sizes - having a large shell with the slack taken up by a cradle reduces the effectiveness markedly
You should not be able to get your little finger between head and shell at any point

But then you can't fit a hat underneath in winter?
Indeed clink - if you can fit a hat under it ( other than a very thin one) its too big to be effective.
With the caveat that fit should be good...I like my Fox Flux and like the coverage it offers. I think it looks alright too.
Been to LBS but they only stock a few Giro and Specialized helmets, both of which come up mushroom like. Anyone know what the fit of the Kali Chakra helmets are like?

As asked elsewhere...evidenc? Not that wee diagram please.
Aye, leaving fit as a given... Fox Striker is excellent. Light, good coverage, straps round rather than onto your head, and not too bulky. The old Flux was really good, this one's got fractionally less coverage but is way better at everything else.
Very few bad helmets out there.
Anybody know if wearing a hat under your helmet increases your risk compensation or likelihood of sustaining rotational injuries?
