    As title.
Some bloke rides over Brecon Beacons and Snowdon on an MTB.

    Thought you might like that.

A lot of camera shots of him and the ground. He’s very enthusiastic in an awesome sort of way

Ok but juts shows that cycling is better to do than to spectate

So he’s created (pretty sure it already existed, he’s just ridden it…) a cycle route that requires 5 bikes to complete. Seems a little impractical.

Thought that was awful. Hate it when cycling/mtb is used as a tourist board marketing tool. ‘Oh, I understand Charles Darwin had a shit behind that tree…’ Bleugh

Have to say, it’s almost like they get folks who don’t do any of the sports they are about to experience then shuv a camera and some sanitised script in front of them.

A bit like that bloke called Mick something or other offf the BBC sports on the news in a morning..

Sort of, I copied it from here when I saw all the love for it on the other thread. Fo balance, yo.

It lost me after they drove up to the top of the gap 🙁

TBF it was only his enthusiasm that kept it interesting…the biking itself didn’t look great.
He’s a very likeable bloke – there was a problem about him attempting Everest last week – might still be on iPlayer which is worth a watch.

I’m sure I saw this weeks ago. The bloke was an ex-rugby player?

Some good bits but yes. Quite alot of bikes

I think I found it on iplayer under Wales

    It was alright.

Got the NyA to Dogellau section spot on, you’ll get wet!

He’s slimmed down a lot since his last series, gone a long way from his original rugby player physique.

Watchable. Hardly extreme though. But could have Benin worse. At least it wasn’t Claire Balding!

yes it was okay. Quite fancy recreating day 2 of the ride and some other parts, went looking for the route online and here it is:

he linked it from his Fb page.
& yes driving up to the Gap! 😕

It was watchable if not brilliant TV.It was all a bit rushed & would have probably been better had it been on for an hour.

I don’t know why they don’t get one of the MTBing leg-ends off this site to film a series, it would be truly epic, I’m sure 8)

I thought it was a waste of a great opportunity. Rubbish filming of the bike riding.

It didn’t appeal to us as it was pants all round, and it wont appeal to those who might have given it a go as it was either raining or foggy or both and you couldn’t really see what was going on.

I thought it was great for what it was.

Enjoyed the scenery and the presenters enthusiasm.
Thought the interviews were decent too – enough detail to appeal to the Countryfile crowd at least.

Love North Wales – nice to see the weather as it really is.
It’s still beautiful when it’s wet.

I agree the presenter was good, maybe it was just the film crew weren’t quite up for the challenge.

There’s a direct correlation between watchability and sugary drinks fo-sho. Didn’t see it but was this more flask of Tetley Tea than ‘saline-drip-bag-of-Sugary-Energy-Drink’?

It was a very SPECIALIZED flask of tea, if you will.

    :/

    Tough crowd.

Thought it was a slight improvement on your usual Countryfile-style mountain bike piece with a presenter riding their bike in denims and wearing a helmet fastened like an Easter bonnet.

His other programme about not climbing Everest was decent – a good insight of the physical challenges of it.

it ended a bit strange for a program about cycling, missing off the mount snowdon descent. Him wooping it down rangers would have been a great ending.

Mainstream TV doesn’t really do this stuff well.

I’d like to see a mountain biking equivalent of a trip like Stephen Pern’s ‘Hooks’ (the Welsh bit starts at about 9mins 10secs). I think an independent MTBing film like this could be a go-er, but it’d be hard doing it solo, like Pern did, because the nature of cycling makes it more difficult stopping, setting up camera, etc. It’d need to be a team effort, a couple of like minded enthusiasts.

Wasn’t all Specialised, there was a moment of Trek in there underneath TMo.

I just hope nobody tries to go up Snowden with no change of clothing ,hydration or tools on the basis that he went up in a top and shorts ,
difficult because it’s good to get some coverage but not everybody stops to discuss rock formations en route

What was the wooly hat he was wearing, not the bike helmet the one in between all the riding bits
That was the best part of the series, nice hat, want one. Think it was a Rab but no sign of it on any website

    rascal

Can’t recall the hat tbh but when he was doing his Everest programme last week I think a lot of the expedition gear was Rab and most if it had an RP logo on it which looked quite neat – not sure if it’s what’s on the hat mind

Nevermind the mtb programme – I quite enjoyed this week’s OFD caving one. Brought back happy memories of fun and long trips there.
