I know it is a toll road and you have to pay to drive on it, but what about cycling? Do you have to and if so how much. Really don’t want to ride from Barnstaple to Porlock tomorrow and discover i have to go the main road way back because i haven’t got the right change.

Yep, I had to pay £1.00, but only when you get near the top….

When you get to the top, look for the Hawkcombe bridleway descent across the road, it’s a corker.

If you’re off-roading, I seem to remember short-cutting part of the road on a bridleway which missed out the toll booth. I couldn’t condone this, but we’d all forgotten to bring any cash on a quick up and back down the mentioned excellent Hawkcombe!

No mood to rip my legs apart on a 53/39 on an out and back across exmoor, enough climbs without that!

    If you’re off-roading

    Road ride.

I wish I could do that ride tomorrow.

Spectacular ride on my favourite roads in England!

    Enjoy 8)
