Thats 5 not the 'Five'. So pre 2010 slacker changes.
I only had a brief go but it didn't feel 'odd' like the 2010 Five that I briefly owned felt like.
Anyone else prefer the steeper head angle? I guess this is where the 5 built up its reputation.
We're all different, aren't we?
I've got a 2010 and I much prefer it to my mate's earlier one. I like 'em slack, me.
Yep, they were the best of the breed.
I tried a 2011 to replace my older 5 and I didn't like it. It didn't feel half as good. It was a shame as the other improvements (taper headtube, Easton pipes) were a step forward, but if it doesn't ride right it's not a real evolution.
That's why I didn't get one, and went Yeti.

didn't you have a 5 on the stw nan bield ride?
wors that was the slacker 2010 'Five'
surely its same as a current heckler hora at 69 degree head angle
Slack isn't always best. I had a Summer season and hated it. Had a Sanderson and loved it. Depends on the rest of the figures I guess.
I've got a 2009 5 that has the slacker head angle. I find its fantastic at trail centres and big descents. But I rode a 2007 5 at cannock chase and it was really good but compared to the one I own its a completely different animal. The slacker 5 is just such a lazy ride. It's not much fun for pootle round the woods ( I have a soul for that) but show it a technical long descent and its a lot of fun.
Yep, it's 2009 when the geometry changed, not 2010. And slacker is best!! ๐
Hora - how's it compare to the 5 Spot - the 2011 5 Spot you have is the slack angle model, yes? What fork do you run?
I run 160's on my 5spot and I've recently converted my DH170's to uturn coils- find it works best at 150 for me. TBH though I do have a wandering eye at the moment I'm looking to two-time the 5spot 8)
