Not sure if this has been posted already, but another welsh trail centre to open, to be as good as Coedy, if the text to be believed!

Great picture of an early 1980s impending crash!

On a similar subject, went to Penmachno on Saturday. Whilst there, bumped into the landowner and stopped for a chat. Seems he can't officially publicise the site as a trail centre due to having no official parking or on-site facilities... in the process of thrashing out options with the villagers...

The place has been crying out for something for ages. Everytime i'm there with work i look at those hills and think "this place would make a good trail.......

What an awful choice of photo in that BBC news story. He's clearly just about to fly over the bars 😯

still chuckling at that photo.

Love the way it's...
a. from the early 90s
b. clearly somewhere dusty and warm, which Festiniog is usually not
c. about to end in tears

😀

On a serious note, is this just the council permission for a centre to go with the already publicised downhill trails there or are they talking about XC trails too? Not clear from story.

Think its the DH stuff and some family friendly trails as well...happy days.

The slate there is the worlds sharpest so take spare tyres 😉

I remember that pic from an ancient MBUK too.....getting old!

Where you moving to No-eyed-deer?

You might not love it so much when the weather gets to you. 😀

i wondered if this was the DH trails, i think i saw them mentioned in dirt
considering the popularity of cwmdown (and their 1 track!) i cant believe its taken so long for someone to get a dedicated dh venue up and running thats accessible from liverpool/manc/ midlands etc

That photo looks like a British biker on a hire bike in Europe.

I know, because I've got a very similar photo of Mrs BigJohn on the downhill course at Leogang, about to go over the bars and have a 50lb Kona Stab then land on top of her. With her left hand in a death-grip on the brake lever, and her right hand just loose and floppy.

This would be about an hour after me asking "do you want me to swap those levers over?" "No thanks, I'll remember which is which".

@whytetrash - Moving to Aberystwyth... somehow landed a well paid job there - on a 3 year contract! Happy daze at last, after the last 18 months unemployment...
