[Closed] New road BibShorts, Endura FS260 ProSL any good ?

My DHB Aeron Pro ones are dying and whilst I could replace with newer version I am considering something a bit better. The Endura ones get a good review and I get on well with more basic FS260 bib 3/4's so assume the ProSL will be similar fit ? I have a long torso and find some makes too short on the shoulders.

Anything else I should be looking at ? Budget up to £120ish

Watching with interest as was thinking of buying these, liked the idea of the different pad choices.

Have a look at Madison shorts, the ones with TMF pad. (road Race & Sportive)

Yeah, reviews are solid and I know I'll be a medium pad as was sized up for a Spesh saddle a while back. £95 at Evans seems best deal. Not sure if sizing regular Endura or a bit Italian...

Endura large = 34-36 I had a quick look at the new range recently looks much improved on the old stuff which was rubbish IMO.
Ordered some of thd new DHB Aeron pros, they came up well small not just tight but short, pad was nice though if you can get the size right.

I've just got a pair of Sportful Giro bins and they are excellent, as comfortable as my Endura Equipé ones and plenty cheaper.

Have also acquired a set of the Pro tenn ones, these which turned up yesterday. Initial impressions from wearing them in house is that they are darned good value for the money and up there with the DHB ones I have in comfort and feel. Will try them on bike tonight.

quite probably the wrong size then . theres no way a 34-36 inch waist will be wearing enduras large - not on your nelly.

im a 32" waist and a large enduras border line....they have always come up small.

^^^ I am a 34 waist and have 2 pairs of Endura FS260 Pro 3/4's, in Large and they fit fine. I do suspect that the ProSL line may be a bit more Italian sized.... the Tenn ones are true sizing - I got a medium and they fit well. My older DHB Aeron ones are also Large and fit perfectly.

The new version of the DHB Aerons is supposed to be a significant upgrade on the original, no longer called 'Aeron Pro' though - I've just bought a pair of the non-bib versions for mountain bike liner use and I'd say the fabric, chamois and leg grippers are all an upgrade. I'd happily buy the bib version if it's as good.

Everything I've had from Endura apart from the original MT500s has simply fallen apart. I wouldn't touch them with a barge-pole. I had a pair of the road bib-shorts and the chamois was actually placed wrongly, Endura's customer service was woeful, just not interested.

Just picked up a pair of Assos Equipes from Ribble a couple of weeks back. £100 after discounts - down from £160.

Same pad as the 3/4s I've been riding all winter and have been perfect on long rides.

I have the (long version) ProSLs as I like a long leg on my shorts. If you are the same then the Giordana FRC are also long in the leg, and a slightly better short too, although it's close.

reggie - good info, thanks. Short legs, long back here, so have gone with standard length. How do they size up compared to other brands overall ?

Cheers

Not tried the Pro SLs, but I quite like my FS 260s. However, my Sportful Super Total Comfort bib shorts are in a different league. You should be able to pick up a pair for just over £100. I wear a medium for the FS260s, large for the Sportfuls - but both decisions were made based on the respective companies sizing charts rather than just sizing up for Italian brands (i.e., I found the sizing charts to be accurate).

I recently bought a set of the new DHB Aeron bibs (tights not shorts), and while they're pretty good for the money, I didn't think the pad was the best and prefer the Sportful and Endura pads.

I've got a couple of pairs of older FS260 shorts that fit really well, like the pad but after 3/4 years use they're showing they're age.

I got a new pair at the end of last summer in the same size (large) and wore them without trying on properly and they where to big, slightly baggy and the legs rolled up so got rid. Mediums fit much better but the legs are to short and look like hot pants, nice one Endura!

However, as I like the pad, find it comfier than the new DHB's, I'm going to order some SL's in medium with the long leg, fingers crossed they're a good fit.

After a couple of short test rides, I used a pair of the new FS260 pro SL on the 3rd day of the Tour of the Highlands last weekend.
So, after having already completed 2 days of 100+ miles, the third day was absolutely fine and the 'hold' of the lycra material excellent. The medium width pad works for me. Size M shorts, 5'11, 12.5 stone/175lb/79kg 32-33" waist and 'substantial' thighs from spending most of the winter on either big telemark skis or on my fatty.
5* out of 5 and my new favourite shorts over Assos.

^^^ ideal, just the kind of feedback I was after. I have ordered L, which may be a little big by the sounds of it. 5ft 10.5, bit lighter at 12st 2lbs, bit fatter at 34 waist 🙂

Endura's turned up, well made, good fit but shoulder straps are about an inch too short for me 🙁 back to Evans they go... Madison ones also going back, pad feels weird !

Have bit the bullet and ordered a pair of Rapha Classics !

I went for some castelli velocissimo for £90. Did 143 miles in them on Sunday as comfortably as can be expected. Would recommend them.

^^^ thanks, will see if the Rapha ones live up to the hype (I had a £50 credit voucher, so didn't seem as bad as paying full price) and if not have a few to try, between Sportful, Castelli etc.

Giordana FRC from bikerooms are currently 50% off. You'll struggle to get better shorts at that kind of price.

Tried Castelli, fancy Gore ones, Sportful and Rapha. The Endura's would have been keepers if the shoulder straps were an inch or so longer. Thank goodness for free returns.

The Rapha Classics are pretty much perfect, apart from the price, which I will try and ignore as am keeping them !

Thanks for the update - Rapha Core are £100 and Classic £160 ?

Yeah, I wondered about the Core ones but the reviews of the Classic swung it for me. They are extremely comfy, just about £50 more than feels justifiable !

I had prepared myself for £100, to replace my worn out Specialised roadie lycra's is only £40 though - worn under baggies

I will make a Core vs Classic vs Endura vs the cheapies above comparison

Rapha Core and Classic use the same pad, but different fabrics.

Will be interested to see how the Core feel, may order a pair myself for comparison and return them or Classics

What's the difference between the standard Enduras and the SL versions?

mikey quite a lot - different material (softer shinier), better pad, slightly shorter shoulder straps. The SL's were IMO really good and comfy, great quality, but just too short straps for me. I do have a longish back and short legs though !

Thanks Iainc: perhaps I'll look at spending the bit extra. I was also looking at the Aerons, but this thread has made me think I should go for the Enduras.

mikey - I have a couple of pairs of Aerons and they are great for me for up to 2 hours in the saddle. My regular FS260's are good for 5 hrs plus

First ride in the Rapha Classics tonight - just an hour and a half, in the pissing rain. They are very comfy but I wonder if I should have bought medium rather than large as they wrinkle a bit and are very stretchy... size chart says large, at 5ft 10 and 34 waist, 12 stone 2 or 3...
