so you have been riding with the whyte marin boys say hi to Ian for me
Posted 2 years ago # -
whyte. tested in the cotswolds.
Posted 2 years ago # -
that looks like a nice return to basics, I like it
Posted 2 years ago # -
I think that looks quite smart. Like it.

Is it the second crack at the Alchemist platform? Looks suitably minimalist with all the fat trimmed away. Can't make out the rear shock, I presume it's a Rockshox unit of some sort?

Looks very similar to a Whyte E-120 or Marin Mount Vision in terms of rear sus set-up.
A simpler front triangle with respect to tube profile, but would this be the norm for prototypes to get the geometry/sus design correct before moving onto more pricey tubing?Posted 2 years ago # -
One of my LBS's has one in at the moment i believe. Think they are looking for some "real world" feedback

Front made from 19 tubing, and a 120 swing arm.
Its the shock mounts that are the feature being tested.Posted 2 years ago # -
Nice, I like it.
To early to mention this to Santa for next Xmas?

We used to build the prototypes from warenty return frames,, saves lots of time ,, easy to make changes before committing to production,,
and with carbon tooling being so expensive it makes sense to get it right firstPosted 2 years ago # -
looks like comencal's top tube with a 2009 whyte/marin. I like
Posted 2 years ago # -
looks lighter than my wolfridge
Posted 2 years ago # -
It wasnt looking like that when you were heading towards Birdlip today :lol:more like it had been sprayed in Mocha.
Posted 2 years ago # -
But it was looking like that when we left Cheltenham.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Oooh that's nice.
Keep it alu and reasonbly priced and it's a winner judging by the posts.Posted 2 years ago # -
Wheres the map holder?
Posted 2 years ago # -
That looks ever so slightly nice…wheels are a bit too small for my liking though.

PMSL @ Niche!

Yes it does look nice. Much less clumsy than current frames. Like mentioned above, keep it alloy.... and keep the graphics subtle.

A nice lack of curves, got to agree it looks nice and simple...and pretty light compared to Marin's recent offerings

I thought the Quad range was effective looking, but especially in 140mm guise their appearance is a tad weighty.
I do like the look of mine though, I love the simplicity of the suspension layout (four bearings vs eight on my FSR) and the curved swingarm.
That new bike looks effective without being over fussy though. I like it a lot.

is the axle path much different? looks like it will be.

Graham, do you ride with Mike Skidmore?
Posted 2 years ago # -
I do indeed..(when he is out)
Posted 2 years ago # -
I work with him. Was he not out today?
Posted 2 years ago # -
Chatted with Pat the other night, he and Ian really appreciated the feedback.
