Humphrey Chetham was interesting but not as interesting as knowing that the worlds oldest football ground is just across the road from the Chetham Arms...

Its a wealth of info on here these days!

BTW only 3 people turned up on the last ride out of Chapletown.

I can give someone a lift from Whitefield/Prestwich/Bury area. Didn't make this weeks ride because new lights didnt turn up till Tuesday.

I'm still trying to figure out the relevance of the 3 people comment...

It's a magic number.

There is a rather attractive new venue on the scene in Bolton. Maybe a future MNPR? Maybe not!

[img] [/img]

My 3 people comment is simply another scintillating fact from the 'much revered' MNPR spreadsheet. The weather that night was absolutely appalling. I was organising so turned up out of duty and was horrified to find Duncan and Baz waiting to set off!

I'm in only to see if Craig will fall over in a "stream" again.

The look on his face when he realised that he couldn't hide in the pub for 2 hrs, ride home to his missus n pretend he'd been out was worth the drenching on its own.

There will be plenty of surface water around tonight so bring a change of clothes for the car journey home!

Who is playing out then?

I'm nursing a monster hangover from a rather hedonistic weekend so will decide later.

No chance for me tonight. I'm off on my jollybobs on Saturday, and have a frankly unfeasable amount of stuff to do before I go.

On a positive note, my MNPR next week will be here.....

Nope, not happening for me tonight. If anything I feel worse than I did this morning. Maybe next week, depending on how Relentless goes... (given my completely stupid and inappropriate preparation, I think I know the answer to that question 🙂 )

Me 'n' Clover. Although it appears to be an hour from here, in the middle of absolutely nowhere, miles from anywhere civilised*...

(* From a decent, organic cappuccino anyway...)

Chipps - your best bet would be to come off the M65 at Darwen (Junction 4) and follow the A666 towards Bolton.

There will be a left turn and it will be signposted 'Turton Tower' (one of those brown signs). That will take you to Chapletown. I'd be surprised if it takes an hour though...

When we did the Strawberry Duck I went via Bacup and Rawtenstall, through Haslingden (try not to break down round there, you'll lose your wheels) then down to Edgeworth via Broadhead road, took less than 45 mins if I remember right.

For the sake of any confusion - we are at Chapletown and not the Strawbury Duck - though they arent a million miles apart...

Evening All, this rear gunner is up for it. GPS is saying an hour from South Manchester. I see that as a challenge. Gav

It's looking less likely now that Beate's missed her overstuffed train from Leeds and won't be home until 7pm. Unlikely we'll get turned around in time. Have fun...
