i have next week down in lyme regis courtesy of work - obviously the bike will be coming with me - i know dartmoor is only an hour away and i've already done the route around purbeck which isn't too far away but anything more local - don't want to miss out !

My mother in law lives down that way and Puddletown Woods near Dorchester are worth a look. Been a while since I was there but roughly speaking there is a forest road runs thru the middle, use it to climb and look out for the singletrack that comes off it. Don't know if there are any maps in existance. I rode for a bit then joined some locals that kindly showed me some of the best bits, but they are not hard to find.
