   Friend of mine is having an issues where his Wilma will not stay on full for any length of time, it automatically lowers the output. We suspected the battery, as it died early on the previous ride, but then realised the charger had stopped working, so used my charger and got to last 2.5 hrs last night but still won't hold full power setting.
   Any idea on what going on, if the battery was simply faulty, why last the 2.5hrs?

   We are planning to simply replace the battery & charger but I'm worried it maybe more than just the battery @ fault, and when even from Smudge the replacement will be £70-80 it's a worrying prospect. Any thoughts?

   Could it be something to do with it getting too hot so the driver is turning down the power to lower the temp? Has it taken a knock recently that could have dislodged the heat sink?

   what's it like with your battery (I assume you have one as you have the charger) or his battery with your lamp?

   You could send the battery to smudge who could test each cell - it could be that ones damaged so voltage is dropping but not run time?

   Units a couple of years old, so will have taken a knock or two, but didn't display the issue until he got it out this year.

   We only plugged my battery (a Smudge replacement) in to check it would work, which it did & didn't automatically flick down a mode in a 'quick' post ride test, but as it's for my main light I'm not really in a position to lend it to him for a full ride... May ask to try it out at home (use a fan to cool it) and see what happens. That's definitely a thought about asking Smudge to test the battery.

   Just wondered if it was a fault anyone else had experienced with these Lupine units.

   Most Lithium batteries, LiPo and LiIon, are good for only 500 charge/discharge cycles, maybe 1000 at most, before their performance disappears.

   If the battery is a couple of years old or more, or it's just been used a lot, it is more than likely just time to replace the battery.

   Deeply (over) discharging the battery can also harm one or more cells. Again, new battery time I'm afraid.

   Hope you get it sorted quick, crummy time of year to have light issues

   TBH I am 90% of that opinion too, though the owner is upset his £300 light is faulty (even just the battery) after a couple of years... I'm just worried the battery and charger may not be the only issue and he might be spending money flogging a dead horse.
   So I wondered if anyone else has had similar issues.

   He has a 2nd torch and I can lend him an old one to keep him going in the mean time, so not the end of the world.
