Take a fresh crusty loaf and cut yerself two thick slices.
Spread one side liberally with fresh butter.
Place two or three generous slices of ham on top, then smear a good portion of mustard over that (Dijon or English).
Cover this with the second slice of bread.

Cut in two halfs, then sit down in a comfy chair to watch/listen/read whatever gladdens your soul further.

Dammit. I'm having another, and there's nothing you can do will stop me!

    No, Dave.

Mike's utterly correct: there are few things finer than a proper ham and mustard sandwich.

    chapeau!

I also like to replace the mustard with horseradish and add a big of veg – cucumber and lettuce usually.

+1 this is my favourite sandwich too…

only I usually like to substitute the bread for some sauteed sweet potatoes and some boiled sweetcorn, the mustard for some creamed leeks and the ham for a nice thick fillet steak… delicious.

Best sandwich suggestion so far this morning.

NO seedy mustard for me, needs to be english mustard IMO

Whistl on the subject, there's a lot to be said for sharp cheddar and branston pickle
