Disc brake mount added to frame – rear section bolted to dropout, front made from plate steel and braced with steel tubing, all glued up with epoxy and carbon fibre.

When you write it down it sounds almost entirely sensible.

    Cynical,
Is your day job working in marketing or some other profession where lying is a key asset?
If so, is this the image the client see’s as to what the end product will look like? :)

I met a chap up at Stainburn one day who was riding a home made, carbon fibre, full suss. It was hand painted in black & yellow and called the Wasp! 8O

Ian – different frame, that one was brazed, and I’m keeping & riding the ti one.

LOL at the flamers, do you even think before typing? Flame if it breaks, until then, neither you nor I know it will work (though I am confident it will).

I would much rather use that than the forks tbh
Think it has a reasonable chance of staying put for a bit but in all honesty it looks gash but may just work

I think your carbon and epoxy skills are getting better (visually anyway).

I got the carbon from easy composites I think, around £10 for 12″ x 3′, a little more for 0.5L epoxy.

well done for the record its the same way lots of companies like scott build frames only without the steel bits….now go charge 5k for a bike

Looks good, but can’t you play with bits that don’t have such a serious failure mode? Drinks bottle cage, or bar ends or something. Brakes and forks are definite blood letting time if they go wrong…..
Keep up the good work though

I’m no expert (this is STW after all), but won’t the seat stay flex and therefore damage the spar that connects to the chain stay?

Why would you bodge something like this together with glue?

That’s how the factory bodged one of my frames. Not a cf one either – metal matrix composite and ti.

I’m actually kind of impressed with al’s latest effort – that looks halfway decent.
