I’d be a bit concerned if that wound was attached to me.

Looks a bit pus-y and infected.
If it smells of cheese you might have to amputate. I think that’s what the medic in Saving Private Ryan said anyway…..

    It is the knee cap.

Yuk, no, get some air to it so a scab can form I say. If a scab doesn’t form within a day then theres something nasty in there..

Bad case of cat Ebola, your toast.

*That may not be true as I’m guessing BUT I think a trip to see a medical “grown-up” is in order.

I think “was” the knee cap may be more appropriate! I’m with bikebuoy, I think I’d air that for a bit and see what happens. Maybe bathe it in salt water too every now and then

Yeah dressings are overrated. Definitely let it dry out.

Wash with saline and allow to dry. Do not cover.

If it gets smelly or starts going some interesting colours visit the doc.

I’d be getting a hydrocolloid dressing on that, myself.

That looks basically alright to me.

Or, to put it another way, I’ve had things looking like that on my knee and didn’t die.

I’d have thought a wire brush was more in the STW tradition!!

60 grid wet and dry and a random orbital sander. Soak the wet and dry in bleach first, then sand for 30 mins.

OP, doesn’t look bad to me. Wash in clean water and cover with a non adherant dressing. Hydrocolloid if you have it I suppose. Do dress it tho, clean and moist is what you want, no scabs.

Yep , my brother in laws brother died of an in growing toe nail.

Mine looked like that after falling over on the all weather at School. A week later it was a ball of puss. And looklike a huge white head on my knee cap. A two week course of antibiotics and it was fine. It did leave a scar though.

So in conclusion its infected get to your Gp/practice Nurse.
