A mate brought round a wheel with a seized cassette last night. It’s a cheapy shimano hub (RM66). On pulling it apart, the freehub internals are cracked nd for the bin. The splines on the hub itself are also damaged in places.

I am assuming that the whole hub is for the bin – or can the freehub splines on the hub be replaced (I suspect not – but maybe the hive mind of STW knows better!)

If the rest of the wheel is in good condition and has never been bent and trued, just replace the hub. Assuming you can build the wheel, that is.

Yeah, I can build wheels… although as it’s for a mate, I’d always have more fear than building for yourself!!

Hmmm, I can see the splines for the freehub are rather chewed. You might get away with a new freehub body on there, but Im not certain.
