The idiot being me – i’m a bit of an interweb luddite. Who should i use? I’d want a ‘dot com’ one i think. And any recommendations on how to get started on web design?

Sorry for the dull question, and thanks in advance.

I’ve registered a few through http://www.1and1.co.uk in the past, pretty easy to do .co.uk is cheaper than .com don’t know why though???

I’ve only done basic websites for club use etc… and I just used MS Publisher, fine for my uses, although I’m aware this is far from the best thing to use.

We use uk2.net for hosting. Seem fairly reasonable.

Web design – I think you can get off-the-shelf stuff or get a web design ‘mate’ to help. (If you have mates that is with the amount of time you spend surfing off course!)

Try ‘moonfruit’ You can register a domain name through them,
You can also build your own website. Check our club out on http://www.stokemtbclub.co.uk

I use heart internet for domain registering and hosting. Also, if you are new to web design you can download lots of web templates for free – just google for ‘open source web template’. Download a template and then you simply replace parts of the template web pages with your own information – easy… Then you can edit these in your favourite editing software (I use textpad – a free text editor – http://www.textpad.org).

Yahoo will register one for about £3 / year. You get a holding page, ut pay more if oyu want to build a prop.er website

Wow, thanks everyone. Seems like there’s a lot to choose from! Will go and have a look at them all this afternoon.
