Following my thread last week with pics of my new frame... Now I have finally finished the build and was able to take it out for its first shakedown today.

If someone had told me how different it would have been to ride over my Santa Cruz Heckler (which I have been riding in various guises for 5 years) - I wouldn't have believed them!

I had so much fun today, my new bike is amazing to ride! ๐Ÿ˜€

Very happy indeed. Anyway, here are some pics of the bike for those of you that are interested.

Before the first ride...

Looks good, only thing I personally would change would be that those brakes look quite overkill? Enjoy the ride!

Nice - I nearly bought a Mojo but the 1/2 price 5 spot frame was a no brainer.
Haldon I see - I was there today, weather man said rain at 3pm & got exactly right!

Good spot from a fence and mud! Haldon is a great place to go on the first ride out....not too far to walk if something goes wrong with the bike!

I had an early morning spin and I was gone again by 11am, so missed the weather. Now sat at home up on Dartmoor and the white stuff is falling (slightly).

How is it different to your H?

The only way I can explain it is...'it was less hard work'...not sure if that makes sense?

I handled better, it gripped better, it flowed better, it worked harder.

In another few rides I might be able to put a finger on it, but that's the only way I can explain it at the moment.

Lighter (although that makes no difference ๐Ÿ™„ ), different suspension, different geometry, and different material.

Couldn't really get more different.

That stem is offensively long!

Sorry mate, me not paying attention - I was trying to do the red in under half an hour but I start the clock from the top of the climb up the old A38 so the hub isn't the start/finish.

I thought it was colder up there today than it was riding through icy puddles on Exmoor yesterday

Did you get wet?
It just started sleeting lightly as I got to St Andrews.

Nice bike, Slightly off topic, always wondered what that little elastic band looking thing round the left side of the fork is, guessing its used to measure something? Got a Suntour Epicon fork that doesnt have one.

Yep, ran out of money. ๐Ÿ™ Should have a shorter one on there in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks but my Q was in what way was it different, which the OP managed to figure about and answer.

Keep reading the magazines ๐Ÿ™„

Oh and I've never said weight didn't matter.

I feel there's something very perverse about bikes that cost multiple thousands of pounds having Superstar logos visible on them. Kinda like throwing a dead octopus at the Mona Lisa .

For as long as they keep the hand cramps away (excel grip), then the logo's will stay. ๐Ÿ™‚

great bike choice. But I'm biased as I have one, and I love it. But mine replaced a fully rigid Trek, so almost anything would have been an upgrade ๐Ÿ™‚ But it does flow well, I find. Oh, and their customer service is second to none.

why is the stem to long, I have a longer stem on my bike and I feel it handles just fine, now wondering what effect a shorter stem would make make,

I went from a Heckler (cracked the down tube nearly all the way round ๐Ÿ™ ) for a Mojo SL two and a half years ago (HD didn't exist then). Totally agree with you, better climber, better on flawy single track and better descending :). I had the Heckler built up light to 28 lbs for enduros, now have the Mojo built up heavy to the same weight, more robust and a far better bike for it. Two and a half years later I still get the stupid grin on my face as I wheel it out of the back of the van ๐Ÿ™‚

Triple only on there until next week. Order 2x10 set. Only using the bottoms two rings anyway at the moment as its a 10spd front mech and it won't go over the 44t. So at present im running 26 & 36 on front.

Nice bike, looks better in Vitamin P though 8) . Here's my HD set up as a 140mm rear/160mm front - bloody brilliant bike, totally agree with you. Currently residing in a shipping container somewhere off the coast of China as it wends its way from the UK to Oz (where we've just moved back to), really want her back in my possession! ๐Ÿ™

Worth getting the downtube cable protector thingy as well I reckon, bit of an annoyance that Ibis don't just include it with the frame really...

You have lots of fun ahead. Buy the way, did I spot a sheath for your Reverb? Interesting idea. Where did you get that?

The newer Nics don't have separate directional arrows - they both run thee same way. The older ones have separate directions.

Looks good. Never ridden Any of the Mojos, but I'd really like an SL-R.

Think its a Gravity Dropper on cycle's psychle....

The actuator jobbie is just above the seatclamp facing backwards...

It's a Lizard Skin chain stay protector - but make sure you get the jumbo one - the standard one won't go around it. I then cut down to size and zip tie top and bottom.

I have had no problems whatsoever with the wheels, but I know others haven't been so fortunate (or that's what the web feedback leads you to believe).

Ithesinger - Was it you on Sunday at Haldon helping your mate (on a red Spesh i think) out of the ditch after he'd got the short sharp rise wrong just off the road?

He looked a little confused to be where he was to be honest! ๐Ÿ˜†

Hey Burchy1 - Yep, that was me. My mate took a right old tumble in to that ditch! He bruised up his leg, arse & hip pretty bad actually after hitting the tree stump on his way down...but he'll survive I'm sure. Thanks for checking he was ok. What were you riding? Were you part of the group or the guy on his own?
