Wow. That’s a thing that is. Has it come up for sale before? That eBay seller rings a bell.
4 days to go and no bids. I’ll be awatching that! Great find 🙂
PS I have seen Dirt once. I saw it at the World’s end-of-race party in Germany in 1995. Pete Tomkins brought a preview version to the World’s and scores of us watched it in some German bar.
Mostly in tears.
Jason’s Mum has never watched it.
MTB hall of fame (or somebody) should buy it to keep it safe
I know its only a bike but its not only a bike! That is genuine MTB heritage. Please, whoever buys it, look after it or I will find you and I will hurt you!
Why would you not ride it??
Out little, young sport has few genuine icons. JMC and this bike are where a huge amount of UK MTB ‘culture’ came from.
Shame it can’t be bought by me. 🙁
jmc was one of the inspirations that started me riding and wishing i had even half of his ability. if only i had the money i’d be bidding on this instead of getting the carbon full sus thats in the future plans. and i’d sure as hell ride it as hard as i could.
I wouldn’t ride it. I think it needs to stay as it is so it will never get lost in time (or broken up or whatever). Whoever buys it should always remember that it’ll never really be their own bike. It will always be Jason’s. ;O)
One last thing.. has there ever been a ‘cooler’ mtber since Jason? It’s been quite a while since his death but I can’t think of any. A few names and faces crop up but nobody fits the bill.
This is like buying a superbike that Rossi won the world champ on, or a car that Schumacher and Vettle won the world champ in, i want it but my wife WOULD leave me ? This one would hang in the man cave and only come out for crazy rides on sunny days messing around trying to cool – Choc dee (Thai) to who ever gets to look after it ?
Specialized have a museum? In that case **** yes they should buy it and put it in there, beside that space they’re saving for Sam Hill’s mummified corpse.
