It's 15 degrees in mine - it feels a bit parky, even sitting here in a furry-lined fleece jacket, but I'll have to turn the heating off very very soon - on my pay I can't afford it.

a "lounge"?

I dont have one of those....
I think you mean the Drawing Room. 😉

heating is set to 18deg in the evening and 16deg during the day. But with the wood burner on it's currently 19deg in here so says my weather station monitor.

Not the warmest but with one of the walls being mostly glass what can I expect. I could always light a fire though.

I've got the heater on so it's not too bad. I'm skint as well, so you've reminded me to turn it off and get some layers on!

Its 15 here too -heating just click off but tbh im comfortable - work has our office up at 20 .....just makes me sleepy !

Been impressed with the efficiency of our house too - 2 bed detatched cottage on top of a hill - used 300 litres as of yesterday since august 1st and thats for heating and hot water.

First thing i do to any house i buy will be insulate it propperly ( its a 1900 school hall turned into a cottage recently i rent)

A colleague complained to me that he spent 300 quid on oil in december alone for not much bigger house but where the previous owner bought cheap and did the mimimum to make it look excellent. No insulation improvements ! Its draughty as hell in his house !

today I had a free thermal survey of the barn. They came round with a thermal imaging video camera and we had a look at where there were signs of air leaks and cold bridging.

Very informative. Im pretty happy with how insulated the conversion has been. Air leaks are generally where plaster and wood have separated through drying over the 15 months since we finished the build. All the cracks can now be filled with caulk - since Ive not actually done snagging yet, its a perfect time to do it.

The effect of cold bridging was noticeable - wall temp drops from 16deg to 14-15deg where the fabric unavoidably contacts the outer wall bypassing the cavity insulation. Shows up quite clearly on the thermal image.

my highly accurate thermometer says it's 12dC.

yes, the heating is on*.

i hate old houses.

🙁

(*radiators hot to touch, i can feel the warm breeze rising off them)

Box on the wall says 16 degrees at the moment, although it feels warmer than that. Having said that, it is on the coldest wall furthest from the radiator.
Have my heating set to 18 degrees, comes on at 6am til 7am, then 16:30pm til 20:30pm and thats enough for me.
A new boiler and uPVC double glazing and doors two yrs ago made one hell of a difference!

4.8 deg outside

19.8 inside, and I've not had the heating on since yesterday evening.

I'm sat here in a t-shirt, and if it gets any warmer I might have to open a window.

Hollandshire.

It is slated to get down to -2 deg this evening, but no sign of it happening so far.

Tell a lie - the BBC say that it is -2 right now. It's OK though - they've said that there is no chance of a hurricane this evening.

<Woosh/>

trailrat - a litre of oil is about 10KWh of energy.
My household (2 young kids shallow bathing 5 nights a week, a shower each for Mrs S and I about the same number) requires around 50KWh. That's about 10Kg of pellets for me.

Heating requires between another 50KWh and 200KWh depending on how cold outside. At 100KWh per day, that works out at about 340Wh per square metre for my house. or 0.03 litres of oil per metre per day.

About 16c when i'm in, when Mrs gixer comes in she puts it up to 22c. Later on she snuggles under the Shetland wool blanket which she cocoons herself in, she then slides into a Vango Viper 1000 down sleeping bag. I'm usually in trackies and a t-shirt.

Ok, it didn't help that i'd left the bathroom window open after having a shower - and left the bathroom door and front room doors open!

All the heat was going right up the stairs into the night - oops!

Stoner - ta muchly for that, it is a much more detailed forcast- will keep an eye on it and see if it is more accurate than the Chief Seagull Watcher at the BBC.

18.3°C in the living room, 3°C outside. I lit the woodburner at 5ish which has made the kitchen toasty, the living room pleasant. The bedrooms are "a bit parky" on the Gresley scale.

We don't even have our heating on at all.
Though I should turn the gloatometer down a tad.
Lots of glass so it stores the heat when it's sunny.

Hoody, shorts and flip flops. and pants of course.

20C. Well insulated, modern boiler.

GF would have it at 23C if she had the choice - as it is she cowers under a blanket whilst I wander round in shorts.

16 degrees or there abouts. Would've been a bit warmer if the mrs hadn't opened the lounge door this morning and left it wide open. OUr utlity room is freezing and that has an affect on the whole house. I'm quite glad that at the moment my boiler is back working again as it's been persishing but an extra jumper & a blanket and all is good here.

About 15C just lounging about in jeans and a thin merino jumper. The wife would be going mental about how cold it is if she was here 😀

21c here, I like to lounge in shorts and a T-shirt.
It always amazes me that houses in the uk are so cold and badly insulated, its not like it was ever warm in the winter!?
