That's about eight attempts to read two threads (crufts and arseholes) thwarted by the Holiday Inn Advert.
I can get about 15 seconds in, then the Ad finishes loading, jumps about momentarily and then goes full screen popup with no option to close it.
Have to browse back to forum index, then repeat 🙁
I'm on Android, Mobile. I'll come back when it's fixed 🙂
PS someone report my thread for the Mods please... Especially if you are getting the same!
£1.50 a month and it's all taken care of.
Not seeing that. In fact, I don't seem to have any adverts at all.
Crufts and arseholes? That's one thread.
That's weird, I'm a subscriber! Perhaps I missed the renewal invite...
...Also I don't think the intention is to send non subscribers away due to a broken ad!
Intrusive Ads is a strict no no. I'll contact the main man.
Could be worse.....could be a Thomas Cook advert!!!

It's very nearly the Dogsbollx.

Why should it be necessary to have to cough up to rid yourself of intrusive adverts? We've been over this repeatedly with the bloody Maserati and Tudor ads!

Exactly.
FWIW, I've not seen these intrusive ads that swamp the whole screen for ages, I don't care enough about the other ads here to bother paying to lose them.
I get the same "holiday inn" advert on my Samsung galaxy. Please remove it.
I wouldnt want intrusive / annoying ads even if they paid me to put up with them.
Nice one, thanks for the screen grabs. I've reported it.
Snap! Also 28.1% damaged! What are the chances?!?!?!
Ps I'll report back in 7 days with how the battery is getting on...
This has been going about a fair bit on various sites recently, targeting mobiles especially. It's no virus, just script in an advert taking advantage of lax pop-up security in browsers and then relying on people clicking on the buttons and links to install an actual piece of malware or virus. Doesn't help when Google in particular allow malware/virus apps onto their store.
Desktop browsers get similar and worst ones are those that take advantage of browsers that launch the last page you were on, so those who shut the computer down in a panic get the same page when launching the browser again and think they have a virus. Worse when it's telling you to call a number and hand over money.
As for ads though. Ideally any site using ads would be using one that vets the ads. I guess those cost more or rather pay out less.
Same as Spooky here - last one I got actually ended up as a 404 but the url was
http://us.1dyk0sqn.top/o4dhjjdihsk/index.php plus some spiel about my phone make and model and IP address.
Ideally any site using ads would be using one that vets the ads.
Don't quote me, but I think STW uses a third party "advertising network" t deliver adverts. I suspect that manually vetting every individual ad served would be somewhere between impractical and impossible.
Just a thought, but I reckon you should lay off trying to help out with bugs/rouge ads/general site shonkiness.
A) You get more (inadvertent) grief than thanks.
B)If you didn't answer, it would force the hands of those that should, to front up some responses - that, or an increasingly large echo chamber of unanswered grumbling posts would circulate, which would in itself be interesting too see - as in the real feeling of 'they're not listening' being played out for real - all you do by trying to help, is deflect that inevitable and embarrassingly laughable situation, from a partially subscription funded forum.
Just a thought 🙂
The Holiday Inn Advert is back...I don't know why I've been persevering for so long but it's interrupting almost every thread.
Site is practically unusable 🙁
Virus ad appeared here yesterday. Site is becoming a joke. Shame as when it works it is good.
The only way i can browse is by requesting desktop mode on my browser. Still, at least i can scroll unlike the mobile theme!
Desktop mode is still crap on iPad - still won't zoom, text is tiny, etc.
Please visit grit.cx for all STW updates.
Apparently.
If I visit there, won't that increase the readership by about 10%?Jamie - Member

Ah..... I see.
For a secret moderator, you're not really on message, Druidh.
Also, stop whining.
For some reason I don't get any intrusive are on my android phone or tablet and I haven't got any adblock installed
For a secret moderator
He really isn't.
Or rather, if he is, he's really very good at being secret.
I thought we'd already established you were out the loop, Cougar? 😉
Surely the easiest solution would be for all you perverts to stop getting these viruses from visitig dodgy porn sites...
B.A.Nana been doing that all weekend with me also. Farce. No other site I visit is this bad.
