OK, I want to mount one of these

on the handlebar of my Brompton, but there doesn’t seem to be a suitable mount for these (or at least I haven’t found one) yet.

Ideally it would be permanently mounted and the clamp should be a split ring type affair so I don’t have to remove everything from the bars. I don’t mind knocking up a final bracket for the lamp itself out of aluminium, if needed.

What can you lot come up with for a clamp?

    Thanks

Try a bolted clamp from another torch, but exchange the bolt for a longer one and two over sized washers.

    How about a P-Clip:

Why not mount it behind the front brake like it shows on the Brompton website?

There is a plastic wotsit that does that – try SJS Cycles. It might go on the fork crown, but space below the luggage block is pretty tight.

Probably didn’t make myself clear. It’s already in the ‘stock’ position on the Brompton, i.e. just below the luggage block. I want it on the bars for greater visibility (ride a lot in London traffic). P-Clip won’t work as the tabs will be in the wrong orientation

This Riese and Muller / SON handlebar bracket: http://www.bike24.com/p224711.html
    Or from SJS: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/schmidt-handlebar-fitting-dynamo-headlamp-bracket-prod9884/

I use it for a B&M dynamo light on my handlebars, works fine.

    Ducktape heals all.

Good call Craig, but I need to consider the fold of a Brompton, so don’t think it will work 🙁

Get a front reflector the sort they put on the bars wheen they sell a bike, remove reflector and use the bolt to hold lamp.

project, was thinking about that earlier, so a possibility in the absence of a more ‘proper’ solution

How about an old bar end?
Cut the bar off then bodge the clamp bit to take the light body.
Polish to within an inch of it’s life, blingtastic 😉

Zip ties would manage that fine.

Hmm, not sure about the jubilee clip, but I do have some in the house.

I reckon this would do the job, but £20 for a mount?!! 😯

Alternatively, I might be able to bodge a bracket to fix on top of a hope clamp….

All you need to add to that hope mount is two small flats with a pair of holes each.
Remove the bolt from the light, put plates in its place, add bolt to angled piece of hope mount et voila!
ACTUALLY! You could replicate the bends around the existing bolt and use to fix to hope mounts angle piece

P clip won’t be the ‘wrong orientation’. Unless you want it to point sideways? P clip goes round the handlebar (if you email me a size, I may have one) and a wee nut n bolt through the tube at the bottom of the light.

Forget the bar end idea, that Schmidt bracket is lovely 🙂

Longer bolt to replace the stem bolt (where it clamps bars), slip light over excess protruding thread and fasten using additional nut?

    Hope mount: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/hope-universal-handlebar-mount/rp-prod23533?_$ja=tsid:46412|cgn:Hope+-+Lights|cn:Chain+Reaction-UK-PLA-PLA-All-DT-SE|kw:72337UK_Hope+Universal+Handlebar+Mount&gclid=CJns676y5bsCFSKWtAodtnAAcw

with a large penny washer or two either side of the metal hoop on the light and a longer bolt.

I won’t be using the metal hoop thingy on the light, hence the wrong orientation for the P-Clip. Gonna use a hope clamp and experiment
