I know this might start the helmet debate again [sorry] but the majority of the group in the advert are not riding in helmets and IMHO does not encourage people to ride with helmets on?

Is it just me, I seem to see more and more roadies not wearing a helmet these days?

Nah - it's just a crap ad because the folk in it aren't wearing/using the products being advertised.

But it's an advert for hats. You wouldn't advertise make up with a balaclava clad woman

why do you want to encourage the image that cycling is dangerous?

True but they are at a distance where you can't see them that and you can also quite clearly see the the guy with the helmet wearing one?

Yeah the items they are wearing arn't the ones being advertised 🙂

It's quite accurate, all the roadies are miserable.

I don't think there should be pictures of people outside without helmets on. People will and are hurting their heads.

Seriously, why would you get so worked up about the lack of helmets and why would you actively think of encouraging the wearing of helmets unless you were a helmet manufacture? Cycling is hardly that dangerous an activity and worrying about banging my head is the least of my worries when cycling on the road.

I know everyone starts arguing about this, but why get so worked up about it?

I am perfectly calm about it. Not sure why you think I'm getting worked up about it? 🙂

All you need to fend off the cold dark nights

I'd want more than just overshoes, a beanie and some lights to go out on a cold dark night. A sheepskin lined jockstrap at the very least 😯

Edit: Oh, and the picture conclusively proves that riders who wear helmets are faster...

Might be wrong like, but I think the neoprone thing is a play on the brand, pro, as in neoprene by pro. Or did everyone already know that and I look like a patronising nob?

Oh yeah, and helmets are dead good. Marzzochi, a cracking fork.

bruneep, what's being advertised in that picture?

I doubt she's for sale (not at a price I could afford).

i'm more annoyed that they are in direct contravention of The highway code, sec. 66,c:

never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends

I got that ad, thought '£19.99 that's cheap', but I don't need any of it.
Then thought, 'not many roadies wear helmets'. But I'm not a roadie, so it didn't bother me that much.

Quite right highclimber

there's even a car at the back of them seemingly wanting to get past. Inconsiderate Beanie-wearing Roadies!

The one's without helmets have clearly dropped most of the helmeted riders
Therefore, helmets slow you down

@Brant - I think it would be good, as said above, that the people in the advert be wearing or using the product advertised 🙂 But all in all I prefer the first advert 🙂 Oh and be setting a good example with regard to the highway code 😉
