Thinking of taking my eldest boy (2.5 yrs old) camping for the first time this weekend. Was thinking of the Gower as he loves the beach.

Have been looking at the Three Cliffs Bay campsite, but was wondering if anyone had recomemndations of other sites, preferable a short walk to the beach, with good facilities and a nearby pub that sells good food….

    Cheers,

    Alex

Don’t know what child friendly entails but it’s a nice spot.

My wife and kids LOVE Three Cliffs Bay. Go with your first instinct.

Hill End’s nice, but is getting pricey, and it’s a fair walk to the nearest pub.

Cheers guys. Unfortunately Three Cliffs require 2 nights stay at the weekend and we only want to go Saturday night. Will have to see if we can get into Hillend on a Saturday but with good weather forecast I have a feeling it’s going to be a busy weekend….

beynons is nice, http://www.nicholastonfarm.co.uk/ its the next beach over from three cliffs. as with three cliffs, there is a big hike up the hill from the beach. but the people running it are lovely unlike those at hillend. no pub within walking distance but i would highly recommend the joiners arms in bishopston for its homeade beer or the king arthur for its beautiful barstaff 😉

Jonah, cheers for the recommendations. Booked in at Nicholaston for Saturday night, so will hopefully give one of the pubs a try…..

glad to be of help, luckily for me i can be in that bit of the gower in about 20mins by bike and the extensive commons mean very little road time too.
it should be noted that its even better staying there when the pick-your-own strawberries are ready 🙂 yum yum yum

we have stayed here at whitesands – a lovely small & simple campsite http://www.lleithyrfarm.co.uk/

It is an easy walk to the beach & nice walks on the peninsula.

it is very lovely down there bill, but it is also a two hr drive from gower 😉

Sadly the beauty of the barstaff at the King Arthur fell well short of last years standard when we were staying at 3 Cliffs in April. 🙁

Hell, I ‘almost’ fancied one of the blokes last year…. 😕
