[Closed] Fitting full length mudguards with disc brakes

Looking to fit some full length SKS mudguards to my Hybrid (Specialized Crosstrail). Rear should fit fine as the caliper fits between the seat/chain stay, so the mount has plenty of clearance. However, it looks like the front brake caliper may foul the mounting bracket/arm. Anyone with any advice to get around this, or is it a case of just bending it into place?

Or are there any mudguard sets that are designed to work with discs?

The says on SKS mudguards are plenty long enough to allow you to bend them in my experience.

Fit them at the fork end first. Bend around to clear brake then trim as needed. Thats what I do.

i use the brake mount front and back to mount the mudguard, slightly longer bolts and attach to the top bolt on caliper. works a treat though i now have uneven length mudguard braces so they won't work on any other bike

As above - just bend them to fit. You should be able to see what I did to my rear stay in this photo.

Are you planning on using the bike offroad ? I witnessed an incident a few years ago where a chap took his commuter bike around the red at GT with a learner group, full mudguards. Rock went inbetween the wheel and the guard, jammed it to a dead stop and he flew off at speed. Not a good idea, or could have been a freak accident, you decide.

SKS ones come with a safety front mount that unclips itself if something gets jammed. (probably concertina's your expensive mudguards, but better than this ^ )

On my hybrid fork there's a mudguard mount above the brake mount higher up the leg. I just needed to cut down the stays to fit. P clips in the right place would do the same thing.

Mainly back country lanes, odd bit of canal towpath. Food for thought though... ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
