You know the "payback" later the same day or the next. Bad guts, supermarket emptying farts?
I was nearly relegated to the spare room last night because of the aftermath (fortunately she passed out before she could enforce this).

Are they made with pressed together sprouts and bananas?

Mmm sprout bars...coated with lard for extra carbs!
Could sell them packed in waxed brown paper too...

Not all energy bars are created equal. try some other brands and see what you get on with.

I like Clif bars - but find them a bit dry for eating whilst actually riding.

Torq bars are my current favourite. The Mango seem the most moist.

Torq bars (and all torq stuff) are fine, especially the mango and the apricot ones.I eat more of them when not cycling than I do when riding!!
I have an especially delicate constitution and even the sight of any SIS product sends me running to the toilet (I won't even mention the M56 emergency stop debacle!!!).CNP is'nt much better come to think of it.

Zipvit sport chocolate coated strawberry way to nice to be an energy bar. Also like the Torq piineapple and ginger.

SIS Go bars are something the devil defecates.

Another vote for the Torq stuff, damn tasty and easy on the insides.

Just wondering aloud, are there any savoury energy bars? I'm thinking nuts, chickpeas, bit of curry spice that sort of thing?
You know, stuff that is actually like food.

Or....
chip bap
pizza
kebab
fried chicken
pot noodle
cheese and onion pasty
at least those are the things I crave mid ride.

I like the natural orange Zipvit ones, always palatable and moist. However, I find cheap cereal bars just as good if not as calorie-dense.

I love cherry cranberry Powerbars too, they're delicious.

I opened this thinking you meant energy gels - which are truly awful. I think the logic goes something like "if you can keep this down, you'll feel like a hero, hence run/ bike faster".

Didn't realise the cereal-type ones were so bad as well though - as above, I mainly use cereal bars and jelly snakes. It's probably not quite as good, but cheaper - and the town-emptying flatulence seems not to be an issue.

I'm sure in one of the many "eating" threads someone (?iDave) posted a recipe for a bar that included bacon....

..edit, found it - see below

I use this recipe, and replace rice with lentils. I also add the eggs raw and tray bake it all.

24 hours later and im still smelling like a tramps dukebox. Urrggh
I think it was SIS bars, so perhaps avoid them again. Although perhaps avoid the need to have one in the first place. ๐Ÿ˜†
