Easton Carbon Havens -
Anyone know if you can convert the rear 135mm QR hub to a 142x12mm bolt through axle or am I going to have to buy another wheelset?
Already discovered that the 15mm front hub wont convert up to a 20mm (However the 20mm specific hub will reduce down to a 15mm - Which I wish I'd known before, bugger!) - hence why I'm considering Fox 34's (see other thread)
Cheers
I am pretty sure that you can't do this. I've asked Easton a few times and got the same answer. You can only go 12mm through axle 135mm spacing to 142mm spacing. The 10mm qr won't allow this.
However I was also told that you can't convert the 10mm QR to 12mm through as well and it since turns out that you can do this at least with later models. I've just converted myself and only needed a new axle (£40). It may be that when asking the question, they thought I meant can you convert just by using end caps. Again you may have to buy a new axle.
I can't see how it's possible that you can convert 12mm 135 to 142mm and 10mm QR to 12mm through but not to 142mm. Surely if you can do one you can do the other?
I'd have a chat with Fisher directly as you can call them and get warranty and technical support pretty easily.

Unless its changed in the last few months, then it is ExtraUK who distribute Easton, not Fisher Outdoor.
Have an email in my in-box from Easton saying you can go from 15mm to 20mm.
Unfortunately I too have an email from easton saying that the 20mm and 15mm / QR hubs are different and the 20mm can be converted to 15mm but not the other way round 🙁
As for the rears - I just managed to get hold of the Oz distro (where I am currently) and he thinks its possible by changing the axle and end caps however he will have to try and get the parts from Easton. So thats hopeful.

Indeed you're right.
There are two different versions of the haven hubs on the market - the old version has serial number M1-120. The newer version which is changeable is M1-121 or something similar. Basically if it ens with a 1 then it should be changeable. The number is printed on the hub shell.
There is an another way to tell if the rear is convertible -.if the end caps are threaded on then it is not convertible. If they push on then it is.
You would need an axle and end caps if you can change it.
As for the fronts - you can convert a 20mm hub - 15mm but not the other way. They use different size bearing seats.
Excellent - cheers for clarifying.
Shame I'm 2000km from my wheels to check this at the moment...
Has anybody had any luck with this?
Seen this on Youtube
which states it can be done however would like to find out where to get the end caps??
Anyone know where you can get the end caps?
Hi , you can get 135mm x 12 mm and 142mm X 12mm end caps for Easton M1 -121 hubs from Hibike germany or sjscycles.co.uk . Hope this helps. Regards Colin 🙂
