Seems ideal weather for a first venture out doesn’t it..!
Got the sleeping bag on the bars, tarp under the saddle, and air mat in the backpack…
Regardless of the dark skies, I’m really looking forward to it!

Will update if I survive the night…!

Will you come in from the back garden to use the loo? 😉

Guess you’ll be posting from London Zoo tomorrow morning.

I do that a lot in work, although I normally say “thinly veiled euphemism”.

Well, what a cracking night! Gentle ride up and over and around the South Downs, then settled for a lovely spot with three other chums overlooking Steyning, near Worthing…
I had my nice big tarp, which covered three of us- one brave soul was happy with his bivvy bag!
Collected some fire wood, drank some rum..
    Will update picture soon!

    I thoroughly recommend it!

Yes it was me @rewski, although I’m on here under my “original” identity

That looks Ace, if i had friends this is what i’d do with them.

Did you take any sleeping clothes or just kip in your riding gear? Do you have bivvy bags as well as the tarp? Which rocks are the softest to use as a pillow?

I had standard alpkit sleeping mat, standard sleeping bag, and decathlon tarp..
No Bivvy bag for me as the tarp provided cover from dew / demons…

Just slept in my riding gear, with a buff on the head! If i’d have been muddy, I had a spare base layer i’d have slept in. It was really comfortable, but I rarely feel the cold TBH.
Once I’m in a sleeping bag, I generate so much heat (stop sniggering class…) that I end up opening the bag at about 3am!

My sons doing his DofE on his practice camping trips the biggest problem is packing his sleeping bag, leaving enough room for other items as specified on their kit list, what 3 season bag are you “Biviers” using

    Cheers

Cheers for answering that Dr P.

the biggest problem is packing his sleeping bag

My three season sleeping bag is massive, i don’t reckon it’d go under the handlebars, but it is only a cheapo one. Is it a case of the more expensive you go the smaller/ warmer they get? Wanting to start doing some overnight stuff but don’t want to freeze to death on my first one and put my self off another trip.

My bag was a cheap black’s mummy bag -nothing pricey or special tbh…
It fits to the bars, but that’s all you could put there…
