Hello. Simple question, though it’s probably been asked before.

Can anyone recommend some cordless hair clippers that actually last more than a few months before the battery struggles to last a haircut? (Or anything else goes wrong.)

(Yes, I know mains clippers are better. But I want cordless ones.)

Wahl have lasted me years.
Cordless means cutting your hair in the shower. No itchy back and no sweeping up.

Do you know which ones? My current ones are cheapo Wahls (bought in a rush) and they’ve gone sour quicker than probably any clippers I’ve had before. I seem to recall they do one set of cordless that’s highly rated, though…

Just get off to Boots or wherever and buy what’s on sale. I’ve had mine for around 3 years now with no problems.

Mind, they don’t have a lot to worry about up top to be honest. 🙁

I use a set of Remmington MB 4110 beard trimmers for my hair. The battery is just starting to show signs of loosing charge after six years of use once every two weeks. I will be replacing with the same model if I can’t get a replacement battery.

Oh, they have a sliding guard so you have a much wider range of lengths to choose from, not just the standard guard lengths.

Had a Remmington for years. It still works.

I’ve recently bought a set of Wahl Cordless Super Tapers after making the mistake of buying a cheap set of Wahls from the supermarket. I can’t comment on how long they last but they’re night and day compared to the cheap set and the best clippers I’ve ever had.

I’ve got a Remington ceramic thingy. Doesn’t work at all unless I get the blades wet when it works fine. Wouldn’t buy another one – I’m waiting for it to die but it refuses to do so.

I’ve got those Wahl ones on the amazon link, they have just turned 7. They’re still going battery wise but the rubber coating is beginning to look a bit tatty

EDIT: “Features 45 minutes run time when fully charged” lol, yeah they don’t do that any more but it does maybe three or four cuts before needing a charge

I had some Philips ones that I loved using as you didn’t have to change the guard for different lengths. The guard was also articulated, so was easier to follow the contours of your head. But after 2 years the guard broke, which I replaced. Then a year later the mechanism broke:

They don’t have the same list of features, but I’m hoping they are a little more robust. 18 months old now and doing fine. Both of them never had a problem with holding charge and both cut my hair just fine – not that I have complicated styling needs. Just make sure you go with ones with a Li ion battery. Some of the newer Philips and Wahl ones don’t.

^^^ the Philips ones above. I’m on my second set only because one of the guards broke after 3yrs and a replacement was half the price of a new one. Both are still working fine though. Bargain.

It’s an easy job to replace them if you have a soldering iron.

Actually I’m modding mine so they’ll take normal nimh AAA rechargeables for when it inevitably shits the bed again in a years time.

Heh, I had one of those. The motor seemed to have as much power as a mouse’s fart and the comb broke the first time I used it. Sent it back. Maybe some of the Cruzer models are better, I don’t know. But it was crap enough to put me off.

My Mrs is a hair dresser and basically says if you want a proper good clipper thats reliable, get a wired one.

I had two ceramic Nicky Clarkes a few years back, they were the best clippers I’ve used except for the battery dying. Can’t get them anymore though.

tried a few others, they all fail
did go into the petstore to look @ dog grooming clippers but they are REALLY expensive

I’ve had the same wahl balding corded clipper for getting on for 10 years now. Use it on my head and face as it cuts sufficiently close to keep me tidy. It is a pain having to trail an extension into the bathroom tho – do any of the cordless ones cut as close as the balding ones?

I do mine over the kitchen sink, with a convenient plug not too far away. The the key to avoiding prickles is to stick your head (and nothing else) under the shower after.

much prefer cordless . bought some corded wahls that got good reviews on amazon and they were terrible. extremely heavy and awful cut ..god knows why

I used a Remington one and then a Nicky Clarke one, neither of which were very good. I saw a £15 one in Lidl a few years ago which has been brilliant so far.

Cordless are better for holidays.
I could never get my plug in clippers to run at full speed on the European mainland.
Lighter too.

I’ve got some round job that I stupidly paid £50 ish for … used it once.. anyone is welcome to it just chuck a 10er to charity! I cant get on with it.
