  • Can I remove the indicator window from my LX shifters?

Just got a pair of Shimano LX Shifters 9sp T660 from Chain reaction. Bargain £27 a pair!

Problem is my riser bars are quite wide before they rise up from the stem – and the indicator window hits the "bulge". As a result, I can't fit everything on the bars where I want it, and my brake levers are too close to my grips.

I can see how to remove the indicator window – but can I get a dust cover to keep all the grime out of the shifters?

    Cheers

(SS for years, so this has only just become a problem).

I don't think they do a dust cover like newer SLX come with.
I've took them off mine and covered them with electrical tape. They've held so far (since Xmas) despite the shifters semi-regularly being filled with WD40 from the middleburn cable oilers along the outer cabling

Thanks – I might give that a try. Or I might get new bars..

    🙂
