Bit of a long shot but does anyone know any decent off road trails within riding distance of Bridgnorth? Heading over tomorrow evening with some mates but can only find the family routes after a quick search

Not sure about ‘off road’, but there is Route 45 which runs from Brignorth to Arley, which is right by the Wyre Forest. It’s all bridleways, country lanes and some singletrack.

Plenty of fun for a long days riding:

You could conceivably ride over to Ironbridge from Bridgnorth. There are plenty of cheeky secret trails starting near the power station.

Secret trails sound good. Power station in bridgnorth?

Power station is just a very short way west of Ironbridge.

Yeah sorry the power station I was referring to is in Ironbridge. If you go over the ironbridge itself onto the Broseley side of the river and turn right along the old railway line you keep going until you come the fence surrounding the power station and then the trail turns fairly steeply upwards and you basically double back the way you came but a few hundred metres higher up. At least that how it used to be. Haven’t ridden there for a few years.

Chelmarsh reservoir is worth a ride out from Bridgnorth, you can get most of the way to it down the river bank.
    Here’s a route I did last month.

The cycle track up to Ironbridge isn’t very interesting. It’s OK if you just want to set a best time for 10km off road.
Route 45 as far as Hampton Loade is good. After that, if you want to go on to Alveley and Highley, you’d be better off following the bridleway that runs more or less parallel to it, unless you want to have a go at racing the trains on the SVR. 😉
