    for my road/commuter bike..

    fitted one of these:

seems quite useful, though takes some learning to look at it, plus no substitute for a shoulder check..

Can it see through/past/by your legs/panniers?

you have to move you leg out of the way a little.

you can fit in a variety of positions lower and higher..

    see pics on:

going to play with the location a bit

I’ve had one for a couple of years and I’ve found it pretty good once you get the possition right.

Your leg does get in the way intermittently but fine when you’re pedalling. Paniers do get in the way, but it’s better than one of those things on the end of the handle bar, waiting to get snapped off.

yer think i might try some alternative positions and see if it makes a difference..

slighly annoyed after i bought it to see they do a extra wide mirror version now..

in fact a convex mirror might be a good option as well

well used it today fro first time on Woking to C. London commute.

    It works quite well.

i think it would be better though if it had a convex lens… to give a wider fields of vision.

What a brilliant idea. If they were fitted to all single speeds the riders would be able to see proper cyclists comming up behind them and wouldn’t be surprised by the proper cyclist passing 😉

    😆

only passed once on the way in by a roadie and he turned off just after passing ! 😉
