Peaks. If you’re there in conditions like today you will know why. And if you’re not, tough luck.

Thanks druidh. Out – well there seem to be 3 options (via OS map reading):
    – W ish, Ewan route, to Morvich
    – S ish track/landrover/building on A87
    – W + S ish via very wide U curve – via Camban then Morvich
open to suggestions/local knowledge, I’m after scenery, preferably mainly rideable(I’m not brilliant) but have enjoyed a ride that involved a 2 mile carry over boggy tussocks.

Non tech gf will cycle back and get car, I’ll go whatever and we’ll meet up at agreed point.
If there any any cracking views, esp reachable for non tech rider that’d be handy info
    cheers

This thread is good as its giving me places to aim for next year.

So far though no one has mentioned the Chilterns – for me its good because none of it is too hard to ride all day, its covered in trails and is easy to get to yet you feel your out in the countryside.

If your tired of man made stuff and dont want to carry your bike and want the flexibility of a route that will take 20 mins or one for all day it will cater for you.

all this wide open skies is all well and good, but in some ways i would rather ride the flowing singletrack through springtime beech woodland. To each there own.

The route we did didn’t involve the lodge in Glen Affric… we did a bit of an long winded steep route route.

Park here and follow this track: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=196740&Y=820920&A=Y&Z=120
Follow this track to the youth hostal: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=201080&Y=817350&A=Y&Z=120
    Stayed here: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=207965&Y=820215&A=Y&Z=120
Then follow this track (boggy): http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=204150&Y=820330&A=Y&Z=120
    Then do this descent: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=198550&Y=822310&A=Y&Z=120

Then swim in river for full man points. Distancewise it wasn’t that far, you could do it in a day if you didn’t mess around too much. We did it over two days mainly because we wanted to stay somewhere really remote on our roadtrip – had a gentle pootle down to see the sun go down over glen affric whilst drinking some whisky from the isle of skye…

gusamc – of the three options, the one past Camban bothy and on to Glenlicht is probably the most straightforward and has a cracking technical section (with optional fatal descents to the left) past the waterfalls at the Allt Grandda (Ewans route in).

The route South through An Caorann Mor is less rideable and doesn’t really have the same scenic value.

Thinking about it the waterfalls were quite good actually…
