No, Jungle Book is a very good call.

I’d have to have Star Wars up there. John Williams is a top film score composer.

I think a film score should be an integral part of the film, not just unrelated music, so The Thing is another good shout.

But in terms of a piece of music created specifically for the purpose of scoring a film, then Phillip Glass has to get a massive biggup for Koyaanisqatsi.

Thing is they’re all good suggestions so far. And loads more out there. No such thing as a ‘Best’, as it’s down to the particular film, and personal taste and that.

In terms of a score for a film then The Good The Bad and The Ugly wins for me, hands down.

    Moon is fantastic also.

For a soundtrack I think I’d go Layer Cake.

Surely Blade Runner should be on the list.

And Blues Brothers isn’t a score. It’s just a group of (great) songs that had already been written.

Pretty much all the spaghetti westerns do it, just brilliance.

    Dark Knight hits it too.

Oh and of course, A clockwork Orange, or as it’s delightfully called in Spainish; Naranja Mecanica:

    2nd Blade Runner

I got the Blu Ray recently – and I’ve watched the film twice this week. Looks amazing, sounds amazing.

I really like the soundtrack to “Out of Sight”

Jaws is unmatched I think for being so integral to the success of the film

No sorry the omission of Bladerunner from said list is inexcusable. The list is wrong.

Yeah soz got carried away with ‘soundtracks’ rather than ‘scores’, but then some music in film soundtracks, like yer Strauss and yer Beethoven and that, pisses over most film scores anyway.

Amadeus has to be up there, as the film is about the music!

    Requiem for A Dream
    Bullit
    Godfather
Bond films; themes and title songs

WHAT NO Bladerunner, not even a nomination ?

I remember when Bladerunner came out as a game on the spectrum the licensing deal went sour. With the result that it had to be described not as the game of the film, but the game of the soundtrack of the film

Hence this 8 bit work of wonder
