Have to admit my last to installation of bearing have not been the most successful using the old "socket" method of late.
I'm not adverse to paying the money if needed, but the Hope tools seem a tad expensive for a job I do once a year (if that). Also given I have 3 type of Hope hubs, I'll need at least 3 tools, it all add's up...
So where do I look for an "industry" bearing support tool , tbh I'm only after what you'd use in a (manual) press, don't really need one to 'support' the insertion.
Are they any cheaper, or is my only choice to just bite the bullet?
though
kit looks ace
wassup with teh socket technique?
nofink up till now, done loads previously without issue, but of late the last two damaged the inner seals.. so I'm paranoid now (one wasn't for me..).
You tell me what size needed and I can make!
Won't cost arm and leg.
Sorry I know it's a bit of a hijack but bren2709 how much would it cost to make something like the rapid racer bearing press like this.......[url=
press[/url].......I need it for bearing 6903 2rs. Just the extraction bit and the inserting bit, they are £18.99 at CRC ATM.
Bren you got an email addy or just send me one..
Off-hand I'd need something for 6001, 6002, 61802/3/4 & 61902 bearings
z1ppy, where are you?
Local mates here have developed a pool of tools, incl bearing presses, between us so we just lend and borrow as required. Surely someone local to you will have, or have need for, similar tools?
I is in Stourbridge ways and have a blind bearing extractor to add to any pool... I'd like to think there must be, but as most ppl I ride with regularly, either use me or an LBS to do their bike maintenance, so it doesn't seem that likely
ah.
get chummy with the LBS so you can borrow their tools?
Most LBS's over here are either very protective of their tools or just too darn busy to lend stuff out. That and as I tend to do my own & others maintenance, I don't have that close a relationship...

Lipseal email me a drawing of what you need and I will do my best to do cheaper.
Cheers all
Ok
