Like the pics in this thread:

Use the bracket as in the post above but you will need to elongate the holes in the Hope bracket using a drill or file.

I have considered the hope adapter, but its going going a Formula rx not a avid, just the brackets off the avid looked a closer match to that of the Formula. Formula don't do a mixmaster for shimano it seems.

Have you tried an Avid bracket on the Forumla brake?

Providing the bolt holes aren't any closer together than the holes on Avid's bracket then the Hope adapter should work (noting the modification that is required)

I find this puts my shifter position too rotated for me. I like the brakes in line with me but the shifters to come up closer so the thumb throw is closer.

haven't tried it no... found something on SDH that suggests the hope system will bolt straight on.

Now then, ordered the matchmaker pair yesterday and they turned up this morning, good work crc!

They fit perfectly and bolted straight on, no need for elongating of holes etc... They don't even look that shabby either. I was surprised by this. I think I have seen the formula RX with silver clamps and black lever and body before anyway, plus my bars are silver so it all looks jolly nice.

Does anyone know the difference between the race and tech ones on CRC, I'm also looking to use them with XT shifters and Avid brakes

I think the race and tech brackets are different - from the research I did I read that the race brackets are not suitable for use with the Avid brakes.

I used the tech brackets and elongated the holes - Hope make a black version of the tech bracket, I got mine from Cycle Sports UK

It looks like it should work on the R1, although the fitment to the bars on the lever side of the unit is a different shape to that of the RX. but it looks like it'll be the same size, you'll get a fair amount of overlap between the cylinder side and the hope bracket as the hope bracket is much wider than that of teh R1...

Are R1 bolts not offset like The1?

[img] [/img]

I don't think the Hope will work with the offset bolts... but I could be wrong.

(and before anyone says it yes this is a SRAM shifter and Formula make an adaptor for Sram... but on the RHS I run a Shimano XT 🙄 )

PS - I had the Formula matchmaker for the LHS shifter on an RX before I bought the TH1 and I found it moved the shifter too far inboard for where I liked my shifters.

PPS - I emailed Formula last year about a Shimano matchmaker and I got a reply back saying it was not something they were working on.

yeah you're right if they're offset then it won't work.

but if you get the formula clamps for sram you can get the adapter in my OP from germany, but it'd end up costing say £20 for the formula bracket and another 35 euro for the adapter that only come in pairs. £50 to tidy up your bars is steep.

it looks a neat solution though, the formula clamps are black and so are the german adapters and there doesnt seem to be much unnecessary metal on either the formula mixmaster and the german part, its what I'd be doing if t he hope adapter hadn't worked I think.
