We did our first day at Artur Stiniog on Friday last week - all middle-aged bridleway riding sometime trail centre types. Two of us on hardtails as well.

Despite our deep fears of injury/ridicule/inability to actually do it, we had a brilliant day - both the red and the blue were fine for hardtails, and the fun that comes from getting more and more confident on the same section is something you can't really do on a big XC or trail route.

Friendly crowd too - our mate Ben was helped down the Black route and filmed as well - and the crew that run it were ace as well. Go there.

Good to know. I was booked in with friends on Saturday but it was cancelled due to snow. The day was only partially rescued by diverting to 'degla and having a blast around there.

Looking forward to trying again at Antur Stiniog towards the end of April

I'm planning to go this year, but was a little worried if it would be ok on a hardtail all be it a blue pig which is pretty much at home dh. So is nice to know others have survived on hardtails.

Yeah, it was the drop. I got a refusal the first time I tried it, but nailed it in the end. Cheers fellas.

Going in a few weeks, not sure what to expect really. Firmly in the "air in your tyres, not under them" camp after years of airborne bmxing. Guess I'm getting old.

i was dubious about going....went a few weeks back everyone was on full DH rigs neck braces body Armour Full face etc...
i had a trek remedy knee and elbow pads and a urge enduro-matic helmet.
i need'nt have worried..
was an awesome day...
we rinsed a few DH riders on the blue and red....
didnt try the black as it was closed because it was snowing

Going in April, really looking forward to it... Have to admit I'm tempted to use a smaller bike, just because that way if I'm slow and crap at least I'll not be slow and crap on a dh bike ๐Ÿ™‚

We'll be there on big bikes, as said not really necessary on the Red and Blue but more funerer when it comes to the black stuff.
