Is anyone from here going? There are a few of us from work heading to it and I am quite fascinated to see what they have done in the park to make a suitable course for this level of riding.
Yep I can't wait, I missed all the tour this year so it's my only cycling spectating this year.
I am fascinated to see how they are going to make a World Cup course out of a dull MK park, but mostly oink g forward to the whole cross experience.
Tickets were cheaper then I expected as well
Yep, bought tickets when they were first released - looking forward to it. Got hotel cheap at the time too, so making a weekend of it.
Going on the Saturday, hoping for bier and frites and not just your standard dodgy burger van.
Me! Really looking forward to it.
You'd be amazed at what can be done in a dull park and Simon Burney really knows his stuff so I think it will be fantastic.
Bier hadn't even crossed my mind 😆
I'll be getting the train down to the event. I thought about riding to it but I didn't want to look like one of "those people" wandering around in cycling kit.
Yes. Then I'm going to a piss up in a brewery straight after. (Yes a real brewery launch party)
To say I'm looking forward to the day would be an understatement.
I was thinking of doing the same MrSmith. Should be a fair few up for that!
Campbell park is far from dull it's large with a very steep side that runs basically the full length of it so it's not like he has to work with a flat dog poo ridden one.
Off to Koksijde and Spa this weekend, tried to arrange a trip back to the UK for the MK race but it wasn't meant to be.
We'll be there cheering on Amira Mellor, I introduced her to mountainbiking as a 12 year old, she won the Elite Ladies National CX Trophy round last weekend, just turned 17!!
Yup I'll be there!
I'll be there, along with my nipper, with a cowbell apiece.
Yes, which reminds me that I need to get myself a bigger cowbell.
This just popped up on cyclocrossrider.com
I may bring my boy up... we're usually not far from there at weekends anyway.
Campbell Park is on my usual Saturday morning "Set myself up for the day" route so my stop and watch a bit if it's not all closed off and then down to Willen Lake for a granola bar and espresso top up and home
Few Parks are more suitable for a cyclo cross course
I expect to be there
Yep, it's local for me and our club are going en masse.
Kicks off Friday evening when Katie and Sven are guests at Trek.
Dash back to Leighton Buzzard....our pub/club sponsor has 50 + Belgian beers to get in the mood.
Saturday train to the course.
Anyone that cares to join us feel free, there might be a few free spare tickets for the day.
Welcome to join us for a drink or ride with us Sunday.
Wow! Never been to a cx event and was thinking of asking for a day off on Sat and ride all the way there from London. Very intereting plan
Get the train and relax, have a beer whilst your there. Don't want to be carting a bike all over the shop.
Oh Yes! a large number of Horwich CC riders are making their way down...can't wait!!!
Yep, I'll be there & then racing the National Trophy on Sunday :S
Yep, really looking forward to. Going for with my wife and some mates.
It'll be great to see a WC in the uk
Yep, i'm going. It's my girst experience of pro level CX so really looking forward to it. Cow bells at the ready.
Incidentally, it's not a pre-booked ticket event only is it? You can buy them on the gate?
If you buy online ticket is sent by email, so if you have a smart phone you could buy them on the day if they aren't on the gate. they are only £10 for adults too.
goldenwonder who do you ride for? we have a couple going in vets, but I think part of that is a thank you for marshaling this year and last.
Anyway good luck.
Yep, live 3 miles away, cannot wait.
"There will be a limited number of tickets available at a ticket office at the gate on the day of the event. These will be priced at £15."
Not sure how limited these will be though, can't imagine they will be turning people away!
I like to bunny hop up onto the little raised platform and do a couple of laps of the "Needle" sculpture thingy when ever i cycle through. They should have included this in the route...... 😉
Anyone coming down from the north via the M1 with space for 2 nice people? We're stuck in loughborough without a car and can meet you at junction 23 if needed! 😉
I was considering coming to this, but £15 is a bit steep to stand in a cold wet park with a 2 year old for 2 hours (his limit).
We're going - bought tickets online and I think £11 for a World Cup event is incredibly good value.
I'm now being paid to be there. Not for my bike riding prowess though.
I'm dragging the GF - she's so excited about our day out to the park in MK!!

+1 i was surprised how cheap
Is it possible to watch the racing live on the net anywhere?
Lad at work is racing in juniors and I wouldn't mind watching.
The juniors isn't a world cup so prob not on live. otherwise I think Eurosport are covering it
Don't know about the junior race but the womens and mens races are live on the UCI channel.
I'm bringing a coach of 45 people to it. It's gonna be great. FYI, it's live on the UCI Channel on YouTube, shown again (mens race only I suspect) on Sunday on Eurosport 1 & 2.
And there are 24 different types of beer for sale....

More info please 😯
I'll be there... I'll also be at a live QnA with Sven Nys tomorrow night, which will be streamed live on the Trek Factory Racing YouTube channel

Can I ask who it is? I know a fair few of the British juniors that will be racing, and it'd be nice to see how they get on.
I seem to remember a live stream of the junior races from the CX world champs last year? Hopefully something similar this time.
Alfie Moses
Yep.. I'll be there. Leaving Brizzle in the morning. Quite a few going from Bristol.
Lad who races in the western league Matt Fratesi is racing the junior race (he beats all the seniors despite starting 2 mins back!)

Ah excellent! I'm good friends with Matt, we raced each other all through 2013, and will be next year when he moves up to junior in XC.
Give him some good cheering for me.
I had a peek at the course last night. The first corner looks interesting. Tight, off camber and muddy. I would be on my arse.
Course film from a friend riding, its gonna be muddy and slippery, really muddy and really slippery.
Aaaaargghhh!!!
It's today!?!?
I got my dates mixed up and have to work today!
Hope you all have brilliant day!
Looks like the weather was specially ordered and everything.
Someone have a beir for me...
Drove down last night. Parkrun done, time for a quick shower then over to the park 🙂
UCI feed is geo restricted, WTF!
Hola, I thank you!
What a great event! Loved it!
the first corner was mental, I am really hoping it comes back next year.
That was brilliant. Doffs cap to Ian Field, top brit today. Blown away by the pace and the course was great.
Brilliant event, fantastic atmosphere, great racing all flawlessly executed. Hats off to everyone involved.
Hope it returns in 2015!
Here are some photos from the Womans race
brilliant event. Good crowds and able to get very close to the action
But my conclusion is that Disc brakes are mainly put on bikes that aren't used for cyclo cross races.

Great races today, the ladies race was ace Sanne giving Katie the eye was before going for it....classic.
ampthill, Sven and Katie gave their reasons for their choice to use canti's over discs. They both said modulation and being able to 'feel' the braking. They said at the moment discs don't give the feedback that canti's do and you' can skid to before you know it with discs. She did say though that for dry races they were fine. They also both liked the lightness of cantis over the heavier disc set ups.
I am of course being a bit naughty on the disc brakes. If I buy a cross style bike it will probably be disc. I found Cantis harder to work with than v-b brakes
But I love this line
" She did say though that for dry races they were fine"
I am so glad that they aren't working from the marketing guys script
I am so glad that they aren't working from the marketing guys script
Thing is the Q was asked, and this was at the evening with Katie and Sven held in the Trek store in Milton Keynes. So you thought the answer would be 'for sure' discs are great, but no they went on to say how great cantis were.
Thought that might have just made things tricky for the guys at the store selling the Trek CX'ers with discs. Sort of 'this has the latest discs you really need these' 'yeah but Sven said....'
It was an excellent race. The atmosphere was fantastic and great to see so many kids around.
The mechanics in the pit lanes were working overtime - just cleaning the bikes between sections was impressive.
The shimano steps looked tiring and there was more running on the off camber stuff then I expected to see.
Hope to see it back for 2015!
Absolutely superb event. Thanks to all involved for making it so special.
The only thing I can think to rival it for atmosphere and quality of spectating was the Olympic race at Hadleigh farm. Brilliant seeing so many locals riders doing so well and the interaction with all the riders was great fun, cheering the riders hopping the steps etc.
I thought the day was great, the atmosphere was better than I was expecting and according the the BBC website they reckoned 10,000 people turned up. They've got to be happy with that.
Our only critisim was that the beer tents were a bit rubbish, only 6 of the advertised beers were on and the staff were struggling to cope, mainly because they could have done with double the people. Still you can't have everything!
All in all though, a top day and I hope it comes back next year
Just about to head back to Scotland after a brilliant day... Have to agree with all the other comments... Brilliantly organised, fantastic atmosphere, great day all round.
What a cracking day! I was there as a guest of saddleback(sponsors for my upcoming CX race). Highlight of the day was spending an hour with Kevin Pauwels and his team. I teach young people with Autism cycling, so KP is a real inspiration.

What a great day, perfect venue of off-camber sludge on a natural bowl and slope and perfect weather. I hope it comes back to MK again.
It was a fantastic day today, the atmosphere was incredible!
Hopefully they'll be running another WC race next year again. From what I've read so far it seems that the riders enjoyed the course and the atmosphere as much as the rest of us did!
Watched the webcast live, what a great pair of races, pretty much the most exciting world cups this year, great effort by the Brits and the mud and associated carnage really added to it.
Well done to everyone involved. Deserves to be on the calendar for next year!
Blimmin brilliant, great organisation and such great atmosphere.
Only thing wanting for me was another big screen on the back of the hill, and the one to the right of the podium are turning a bit more towards the massed crowds.
Nice handouts from grit.cx
Amazing day, feel as though I rode a lap!
Crowds and atmosphere were brilliant, love my Shimano cow bell 🙂
Fabulous. And being able to walk there...I love living in MK.

Isn't it great! Gives the city a great buzz. Great crowds and atmosphere. Met people I'd raced against 30 years ago, chatted with people who had come from the States and even Mrs Wingnuts enjoyed it.
The racing was great and the way even the back markers continued to ride hard was impressive.
It's the variety of stuff that happens here - and there's always a great vibe whatever the event.
Mrs flap_jack loved it too, mumbling something about if she was 30 years younger she'd love to have given it a go.
Today, off for another of MK's hidden gems - the wonderfully quiet road riding to the west of the city, having enjoyed endless singletrack up at Woburn on Friday - as the posters said, no better place to live if you're a cyclist.
flap_jackhaving enjoyed endless singletrack up at Woburn on Friday
No, NO you didn't. It was awful remember, horrible, and no one else should come to try it, they'd hate it.......... 😉
yes great day, great racing and great to catch up with far few people!
And GB riders delivered! thought the GB Junior girls did a great job in the senior woman,s race, Ian also did a great ride, Ian be in the top ten very soon.
Some photos to be found here
And watching Helen and Nikki been true pros signing autographs & having pics taken with fans. make some kids very happy
You can even get some MK cyclo cross event memorabilia!
